Hi Guys,
I have a Dell Latitude D630 and the SATA HDD crashed. I accidently purchased an ATA/IDE HDD as a replacement (cannot be exchanged - dodgy dealer!). Is it possible to fit this into the D630. I am aware the the D630 ATG has a SATA/IDE storage controller but was wondering if this would allow me to place the new HDD into the original HDD bay.

Thanks for your assistance in advance...

It doesn't seem likely. The internal interface is SATA, and I doubt there's any way to adapt it.

I agree, SATA is Serial transmission and ATA is parallel transmission you would need a converter. This would be okay for a PC but a for a laptop I don't think so.

Sorry you are going to have to buy another HDD. You can use the other hard drive in a PC though.

- SATA
- Laptop hard drive (2.5 inch)

Thanks guys...
I'm off to buy a new HDD... This time I'm taking my brain with me...

FWIW-You can buy a case and use the SATA drive as an external.
