1. I don't have any special concern, but I was just wondering if my system/computer is overheated?
2.Is there any way of checking this out?
3.And what is the recommended temperatur for a regular system. I don't have any additional cooling/fans, only the ones that came with the system as new.

My system i a Dell 4500 from september02, I havn't added any extra parts yet. But I am thinking about buying a new hard drive - http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.asp?sku=302610&s=sc - (it's in norwegian, but the specs are the same, just roll down the page a little bit)

Thank for any help

The new HardDrive cost 850NOK(norwegian kroner).. this is about $110.. is this a good buy? Remember:!: Norway is more expencive than other countries, so the difference has to be kinda big to make any difference.

One more thing... ;)

I think i will expand my DDR RAM as well, while I'm at it...
Currently i have a 512MB DDR RAM. What will happen if i buy a 1024MB chip? I have heard that the faster chip only will perform at the slower chips speed, is this true? I also hear something called "DDR-DIMM", what is this? And will it work with my system?

What brand, speed and specs do you recommend?

Hi my p4 3.0 runs at 37c in bios, 39 in ideal and 45 at max

Also I recommend at least 2 fans in any modern system

Thanks to "niceguyguarav", but there are other things im wondering about as well..

This took a while..... :-|
Anyone who has any help for me...?

I think you have misunderstood me a bit... i guess.... :-|
My questions are:

1. How can i check the temperature of my computer, CPU and other stuff that needs checking?

2. Is the - http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.asp?sku=302610&s=sc - a good buy/do you recommend it, or will something else be better? The price is about $110.

3a. DDR RAM -- What brand, speed and specs do you recommend?
3b. What is "DDR-DIMM RAM"? And will it work with my system that has regular DDR RAM?
3c. What will happen if i put a 1024MB RAM chip in with the 512MB chip i already have?

Oookaii!?

You can find the current case and CPU core temperature in the "System Information" located in Start/Accessorys/System tools. (i think.)

If not you can download a "temperature tracker" from http://mbm.livewiredev.com which should tell you the CPU speed, core temperatures, and core voltages. (I RECOMEND THIS.)

Puting 1024MB RAM chip in with the 512MB chip you already have should not cause any problems. DDR-DIMM ram is a different type of ram than regular DDR so i doubt it will work with your system.

Hope this helps.

That harddrive is ok, but personaly i would go for a SATA or RAID capable harddrive.

It depends what its going to be used for... (i.e. server or desktop)

I dont think a SATA or RAID drive works with my computer...

Im gonna use it for basic things, like.. storing stuff... if u know what i mean? The thing you usually do with a harddrive..? :-|

Anyway... thanks for the help! :D

1. I found nothing in the "system information" about any temperature stuff.

2. I downloaded "MBM" (Temp tracker).. but i cant make i work properly. Am I doing anything wrong? Do i need a special part in my system for it to work? And how do i find out what type my motherboard is? (It is an Intel: something... , but i really dont know any more about it.) I think this might be the source of my problem with MBM.

The Dell dimension 4500, according to the specs I've seen, uses an i845E chipset and a Prntium 4 processor. That chipset allows for temperature monitoring via sensors, and shutdown control in BIOS setup. Those features may or may not be present in your system. "Name brand' manufacturers often omit such features, as they do not cater to the overclockers and enthusiasts among us!

You can check detailed information about your system by downloading and installing Everest Home Edition

http://www.lavalys.com/products/overview.php?pid=1&lang=en&pageid=1

MBM5 needs to be configured for the precise temperature sensors included in your system, and Everest will help you determine what they are, if such are actually fitted.

will check it out...

thanks alot! :D

sorry i thought it was in system information, or at least it used to be in the good old days.

i use "MBM" and "Omni-Gardian" so i dont use system info much...

EVEREST Home Edition is realy useful i recomend it.

You have to configure MBM to work with your motherboard. Dont select the wrong motherboard, or it will keep crashing your system. (i found that out the hard way!)
