On a Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop, clicking was heard upon start up, then primary hard disk 0 not found. Bought a new hard drive and installed it, but am getting the same message. The hard disk is not recognized in the BIOS.
Is there anything I need to do when installing a new hard drive to get it to be recognized? format? partitioning? Not too computer savvy...

thats right brother he needs to set the jumper first but , if he is installing the second hard disk to his comp then he has to set the jumper to slave , (if his first hard disk jumper is on master)
