It is probbably not Nero issue, but burner issue. You should update your burner's firmware.

i have heard so many problems with nero 7 , it seems to be like vista bloated beyond useage.
I have nero 6 and it runs fine

I've downloaded nero 8 and it also has some burning-related issues. Seems that Nero burning rom doesn't install all the necessary drivers for the burner (if you don't install the whole bundle), while Nero express burns without a problem. And I'm talking about same bundle installment. Weired.

HELLO AGAIN
Nero 7 & 8 are just a pain full stop / too much agro.
Like so much other software recently that has got a good reputation & they release a so called new improved version and it turns out to be worse than ever.

Thing I dislike the most with Nero 8 is lack of advanced options. For example, you can no longer make data/audio combo disc. That and interface design are the only real changes between 7 (or 6) and 8.

Don't know if it will work to try to invigorate this thread, but I'm having illegal disk errors too. I'm running a Toshiba Satellite L455-S5975 in which I swapped out the optical drive with a 2012 LG BT20N Blu-Ray burner 2 to 3 years ago. Also running Windows 7 Home and Nero 7. Burned all media like a charm (except for being a tad loud) for a couple of years. Last year it started being unable see files that had been burned on disks with the same burner. Then last month it stopped being able to burn Blu-Ray data disks. It did proceed to burn two DVD data disks before starting to give me the "illegal disk" error. I checked LG's site for a firmware update and found none, so then sent them an email asking if there was a firmware update, but they replied in the negative. So, thinking the drive was bad, I ordered a new one (which actually turned out to be a month older than the one I had). Wouldn't burn a Blu-Ray, stopping about 1/3 of the way through. Burned two dvd's, then started getting the "illegal disk" error. So I'm basically at my wit's end and don't know what else to try. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do have the error log for the Blu-Ray fail and can quickly make one for the "illegal error" if needed.
