On the start up of my p.c, i'm getting an error dxsetu.exe.
It then goes on about a load of aplication errors.
Has this got something to do with direct x ?
Any help would be great.

First of all could you click Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs and uninstall 'Window Search', 'Window Searching', 'Lop.com', 'LOP SEARCH', 'Browser Enhancer', or 'Ultimate Browser Enhancer' if listed. You may be given a code to insert, do so and reboot when done. If not listed there, run this uninstaller:

I also have recently received the DXSETU.EXE error. I also have OPE9.EXE running on my computer which wasnt on before and a problem with winsock.scr. The CMD.EXE also seems to be running at 100 CPU. Will try all this tonight and post tomorrow - hopefully somebody can help me get rid of this as it is really annoying and seems to make my compute die.

try this
first end all cmd.exe tasks with the taskmanager
IMPORTANT Deactivate the "System Restore" in System Properties
Deactivate the System Restore
then fix the following problems with HijackThis
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dxset.exe] C:\WINDOWS\dxsetu.exe
F0 - system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe winsock.scr
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe winsock.scr
check also: http://www.hijackthis.de/logfiles/3aee1d6b48487f2b7269a9b8e73c37ed.html
select the followig files with GiPo@FileUtilities to delete them on the next startup:
wsock.dll
winsock.scr
dxsetu.exe
winlog.com
dxwinex.exe
ope**.exe (all ope files...)
check all files with the same date like dxsetu.exe in
C:\windows and C:\windows\system32
now you can restart the computer and clean the registry (regcleaner...)
if this don't work update your HijackThis to version 1.98.2 an post the log again!
