Pc has become VERY slow and laggy along with a slower net speed all leading me to believe i have some kind of virus/malware problem

i have run avast thorough scan and spybot search and destroy but to no avail, can anyone please help a man in need ;)

I always found norton slows a machine down.turn it off and try it.Also lavasoft adaware is ,I found,Far superior at scanning than spybot.

Hi welcome to daniweb, poster may have noticed this entry in your HJT log:

This can be taken care of later. It isn't hurting anything right now. Leave Spybot on there, the newest AdAware program is just not what the older versions used to be. Spybot is the program of choice for this type of scanning at the moment.

You need to do the following:
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBA-M) to your Desktop.

* DoubleClick mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install MBA-M.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When MBA-M finishes, Notepad will open with the log. Please save it where you can find it easily. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt.

Reboot the system
Run a new HJT scan and save the log. Post back here with both the MBA-M log and the HJT log.

You didn't reboot the computer after running MBA-M. It should not be running in the background. You also are showing 9 instances of google chrome running, why? Do you have this many pages open?
What were you doing while the MBA-M scan was running? I honestly have never seen a Full scan take 5 hours.
These programs are running in the background:
KHost.exe
msnmsgr.exe
GoogleUpdate.exe
TomTomHOME.exe
tor.exe
MBA-M
and all the previously mentioned google chrome listings.
Have you rebooted the computer recently?
All of those are not required to run all the time and could definitely slow the system down.
Have you cleaned out your temp files, done a defrag lately?

You didn't reboot the computer after running MBA-M. It should not be running in the background. You also are showing 9 instances of google chrome running, why? Do you have this many pages open?
What were you doing while the MBA-M scan was running? I honestly have never seen a Full scan take 5 hours.
These programs are running in the background:
KHost.exe
msnmsgr.exe
GoogleUpdate.exe
TomTomHOME.exe
tor.exe
MBA-M
and all the previously mentioned google chrome listings.
Have you rebooted the computer recently?
All of those are not required to run all the time and could definitely slow the system down.
Have you cleaned out your temp files, done a defrag lately?

i have 9 instances of chrome as it makes a new instance for every tab, that is what chrome does

i defragged the other week and also did a full scan and fix with cc cleaner about a week ago, maybe the day after i did the defrag

As for those processes at any one time i have roughly 65% free memory left and using, whilst typing this message 6% cpu power < according to windows task manager>

something is wrong that's for sure, the fan seems to be on quite often too, maybe that's why it was going so slow, i presume this must mean that a build up of dust in the fan is causing the laptop to overheat and the fact that it is hot could be what is causing the laggy effect

what i shall do is remove as many items from start up as possible <msconfig> , by some compressed air and clean the dust out and see if that solves my problem,

are you suggesting now that it cant be a virus from the log files, at least that will put me at ease

Ok, a couple things. When you are running scans, everything unnecessary should be closed, this includes any type of IM program and browsers are the two key ones for sure. The more that is running the more the scan will be slow.
To manage unnecessary starts rather than msconfig, which is really intended to be used for trouble shooting more than anything else, I would recommend the free program Mike Lin's StartUp Control Panel. Very easy to use AND very small also. Download and install and you should then find it in your Control Panel with a little computer icon labeled Start Up. Open the program and you will see different Tabs. Some may have something listed, some may not. Go through the Tabs and REMOVE check marks from those you do not wish to auto start. Close the program and reboot.
You need to look at which processes are using a large amount of CPU's and determine if you need them running. That is really the only way to determine that.
Yes, excessive dust can certainly cause overheating and can slow the computer.
I honestly don't see anything suspicious in the logs.

Hey ricki, happy to help. Take a look at the amount of CPU's used by the chrome browser. Don't know how high it will be. I know when I use a lot of tabs with Firefox it is way up there.
