I am writing this because i tried to solve this problem a month ago and it did not fully go away. Within seconds of booting up, i lose all sound and and my taskbar reverts to some really old format. Google also constantly redirects me to known attack sites which try to download more viruses. I am at my whits end trying to figure out how to get this virus off my computer. I am scanning with Malwarebytes right now and it has already found 4 viruses (even though i scanned with it two weeks ago and cleaned them all off my computer). Any help would be greatly appriciated, thankyou.

I am going to post my current hijack this scan and when the malware bytes finishes its scan i will post that as well.

and for some reason i have 6 different svchost.exe's running at the same time. Is this normal

Yes.

If you are concerned that those files were not deleted, run MBA-M again and see if they are picked up.

Also, if you do any online banking then change all passwords by phone as the infection is one that steals personal data.

it deleted everything the first time through, but my problems still exist. including the changing taskbar no sound and google redirect.

Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE

  • You must download it to and run it from your Desktop
  • Physically disconnect from the internet.
  • Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
  • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log to post in your next reply along with a fresh HJT log
  • Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..

Note:
Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Run Combofix ONCE only!!

Ok did exactly what you said. here is the combofix log, and after that the HJT log:

Ok did exactly what you said.

Except that combofix was run twice.
How is the pc now?

oh, i didnt realize that i ran it twice. I only clicked once. Sry.

But my computer is showing none of the symptoms as before. my sound now works, as does the taskbar. Google does not redirect me and my internet stopped automatically disconnecting me. It also runs much faster now. Thankyou so much for all of your help, this problem has been a pain in my said for nearly a month and it is a relief to see it gone.

Oh, and do i need to erase the restore point that combofix created allong with all other one and then start a new restore point? or is in not necessary.

Just do the following please.

  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the /, it needs to be there.

Getting rid of previous restore points is a good idea once you know for sure that your pc is running ok :).

n

this is the message i get when I know the virus is about to hit..basically when I turn on my PC I'm good for about ten minutes or so and then this message pops up and it hits :( http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/8656/msgk.jpg

I'd greatly appreciate anyones help. I'd really like to avoid having to reformat. Thanks so much guys!

Download, update, and run Mbam and see if that helps! http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button

Sorry I totally forgot to mention that the first thing I did was run that program. I'll look for my log and post that here. So I first ran Mbam, then Combofix and then HiJackThis

You really shouldn't run combofix unless instructed to do so as it can do serious harm if you aren't careful with it!

Oh jeez, dumb move by me then. I was desperate to fix this problem and came across someone in this thread with the exact same problem. He was instructed to do it so I thought I'd give it a shot. Hopefully I'm alright..

The fact your PC is still running is a good sign!

Can you post HJT log, combofix log, and mbam log! Need to see all of them to figure your problem!
