I have read thru about 2 dozen threads trying to find something that could help me get this trojan off of my computer, but I've had no luck. I've downloaded AdAware, Spybot S&D, Stinger, CWS Shredder, Trojan Hunter, and HJT. I've tried repetitively to delete the trojan, and it persists. This is my HJT log. Please help.

One big problem that I have found is that I don't believe my computer will restart in Safe Mode. I think that my computer may have a damaged driver or something. It gets to a certain file, and then stops.

If you can help, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Try AboutBuster. It got rid of my About:Blank Search Assistant problem when I had it once. Follow this link to the tutorial.

http://www.besttechie.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=1488

Also, nothing's coming up in Google or Tony K's BHO list on this entry.

So I'm a little suspicious about that. There's also a couple of other files I'm suspicious about like the addjx.exe and the netsk.exe, but I'm not too experienced on reading these HJT logs, so be careful about what I'm telling you. I want to help you fix this, not help you ruin it! AboutBuster IS safe to use though. I would certainly try that.

Let me know if I've helped at all! Best Wishes!

I just used AboutBlaster, but the problem is still there. In my Add/Remove programs, I have those 3 darn icons that can't be deleted (search assistent, shopping wizard and one other I can't think of). If there are any others who could help let me know please! I can't even use AIM. It stinks.

Thanks to all

Please post another log and update about buster as we will use both together.

I have been running a bunch of programs for the last day, which seems to have alleviated some of the problem, but I still think that it's in the registry at the least. I will post thte HJT log first, and then the About:Buster log.

Thanks for all of the help...I just want it to go away!!

Doesn't look too bad.

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

To remove orphaned entries in Add/Remove Software you can try a Registry Cleaner.
Before manually editing the registry always back it up. On Windows ME and XP creating a Restore Point will do.

Click Start > Run > Type or copy & paste regedit
The registry editor will open.
Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete the offending entry in the right hand pane.

If you want to post an hijackthis log, please do so in your own thread :).

I'm completely new to pretty much everything computers. I know how to navigate one, but apart from that...........

Hi samattias,

Welcome to Daniweb :) .

We ask that members not tag their questions on to a thread previously started by another member (regardless of how similar your problem might seem). Not only does it divert the focus of the thread away from the original poster's problem, but it also makes it less likely that you yourself will get the individual attention that you need.

Please start your own thread and post your question there. New thread can be started by clicking the button "NEW THREAD" which is at the top-left corner of this page.

For a full description of our posting guidelines and general rules of conduct, please see this page:

Thank you..

oh ok

new to all this...........

sorry

i had the same problem as you, but all you have to do is install "Innovatools Add Remove Plus!" from somewhere (i think i got it from www.majorgeeks.com) and it will bring up a screen with all your installed programmes on it, just click the 3 that need removing and it will uninstall them =D. when you uninstall them though, a webpage will come up, ignor it, just X it and carry on with uninstalling. Its free for 15 days.
