I've got a couple of problems that I'm having trouble getting rid of. First, ZoneAlarm keeps telling me that files with varying names (typically things like 9F4C.tmp or some other random combination of letters and numbers) is trying to access the Internet. I always click to Deny these when they pop up. I ran BitDefender 8 tonight and it came back with the following:

C:\WINNT\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\FX4DBU4Z\ym11_[1].exe Infected Trojan.PWS.Yaspy.A
C:\WINNT\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\FX4DBU4Z\ym11_[1].exe Disinfection failed
C:\WINNT\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\FX4DBU4Z\ym11_[1].exe Moved
C:\WINNT\system32\senssrv.dll Infected Trojan.Downloader.Harnig.DC
C:\WINNT\system32\senssrv.dll Disinfection failed
C:\WINNT\system32\senssrv.dll Moved

I keep getting the red shield with the "X" in it in my Taskbar for Windows Security Alerts. I was running Norton AntiVirus 2003 (fully updated) when I got the virus in the first place. I have since shut that down and installed the Demo version of NOD32 at the recommendation of our IT guy at my work. It is not done scanning yet, but in the meantime here is my HijackThis log.

I have rebooted to safe mode and deleted the *.tmp files and that ym11_[1].exe file but they keep coming back. I have run Spybot S&D and Ewido along with Norton. I've also gotten messages about "Hacktool" being found but Norton can't do anything with it, apparently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, run HJt and check the following.

Then click Fix Checked

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Download pocket killbox from http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/killbox.exe & put it on the desktop where you can find it easily

Now Start killbox Copy the list of files below to the clipboard by selecting all of them with your mouse (Left click the start of the list and drag the mouse to the bottom of the list) and when they are all selected ( highlighted in blue) right click on any part of the blue area and say copy

In the Killbox, Go to the toolbar press file and select Paste from clipboard. The first file name will appear in the window and if the file exists it will appear in blue under that window then select standard file kill, press the red X button, say yes to the prompt and once the file deleted message comes up then press the red X again and continue to press untill the last file on the list appears in the window & it says deleted.

File list:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00001.exe

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\cdscsix3.dll

If they don't delete check "Delete on reboot, then reboot.

I have since downloaded ESET Nod32 and BitDefender and reinstalled ZoneAlarm on my machine, so those show up in the HJT log now where they weren't there before.

Just one more thing - the problem I'm having now is that my Internet Explorer will close at random for no apparent reason. No error message or anything shows up - all of a sudden Explorer just goes away. Any thoughts?

Thanks again.

Nod32 also keeps giving me the following error message:

Time Module Object Name Threat Action User Information
4/28/06 0:10:33 AM Kernel file C:\WINNT\system32\cdscsix3.dll a variant of Win32/Spy.Goldun.GU trojan
However, that file is deleted and is no longer on my hard drive anywhere. But it is showing up in my registry under the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\cdscsix3

I have tried to delete the key but it keeps reappearing. I ran Killbox but cdscsix3.dll is not shown in the Running Programs list. How can I get rid of this thing?

My computer is running abnormally slow - I am guessing this is the reason and would sure like to be able to fix it.

Thanks for your help.

Is anyone going to respond with assistance or do I just need to figure it out on my own?

Hmm alrite, let's try using regedit.

Open Start > Run, and type in 'regedit' (without the quotes). Navegate to the entry ya wanna delete, and right click it, choosing 'delete'.

Post back here on results.

Thanks.

Yes, I know. I did that, but it keeps showing back up. For some reason it's not letting me delete it.

Ok, let's try this with killbox:

1) Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.

2) Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.

3) Select "delete on reboot" and put a check in the "unregister dll.

4) Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\cdscsix3.dll

5) Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

6) Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Let the system reboot.

You're my hero! It fixed it.

Thanks for your help.

Haha happy to hear it worked.

Last thing, could ya mark this thread as solved?

Thanks again :)

Sure. How exactly do I do that? Do I just select the "Solution" icon from the icon list?

Heh no. Near the top, the yellow bar right above the first post. It should be around there (like, just looking at this page, not in reply format).

Thanks again.
