'Server Busy' message

Hi, I use Norton antivirus 2003, AVG, spyware doctor and spybot search and destroy. Whenever I log on i randomly get this 'server busy' box with the only options being retry and switch to. The cancel option is greyed out and whenever i click on the red cross it doesnt close unless i choose one of the options.An advertising pop-up usually comes when i choose one of the 2 options. Even after running scans with all my programs i have listed, the message still appears. Here is my hijackthis log:

Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
Select:
- Delete on Reboot
- then Click on the All Files button.
Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.

Save all of these files somewhere you will remember like to the Desktop.

Update About:Buster

Unzip the contents of AboutBuster.zip and an AboutBuster directory will be created.
Navigate to the AboutBuster directory and double-click on AboutBuster.exe.
Click "OK" at the prompt with instructions.
Click "Update" and then "Check For Update" to begin the update process.
If any updates exist please download them by clicking "Download Update" then click the X to close that window.
Now close About:Buster

Update CWShredder

Open CWShredder and click I AGREE
Click Check For Update
Close CWShredder

Boot into Safe Mode
(by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until at the bootup screen until a menu shows up and choose Safe Mode from the list)

Please run about:buster:

Click Start and then OK to allow AboutBuster to scan for Alternate Data Streams.
Click Yes to allow it to shutdown explorer.exe.
It will begin to check your computer for malicious files. If it asks if you would like to do a second pass, allow it to do so.
When it has finished, click Save Log. Make sure you save it as I may need a copy of it later.
Reboot your computer into safe mode again

Run about:buster again following the same instructions as above, this time without the restart at the end

Now run CWShredder. Click I Agree, then Fix and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about.

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

Empty Recycle Bins
Delete Cookies
Delete Prefetch files (if present)
Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to log-off/reboot at the end, if it does please do so.

Please download ewido anti-malware it is a free version of the program.

Install ewido anti-malware
When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
- Install background guard
- Install scan via context menu
Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
The program will now open to the main screen.
When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
- On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
- Then click on Start Update.
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful" )

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

Open up Ewido
Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
Click Save report.
Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Close ewido anti-malware.

Reboot.

that Messenger 3 Plus! can turn into a fairly nasty little guy - hince why your homepage was being changed to prosearching.com You gotta get rid of that one, I didn't find any specifics on my search as to how, but if it doesn't show up in Add/Remove Programs then let me know, I'll look more indepth to find a good clean procedure - shouldn't be too difficult :P

Please check for any .exe files in this folder. Report back any you find.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\Fonts

You may need to show hidden files.

Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files - option.

I did everything both of you have said, i noticed after i rebooted upon killing the 2 .dll files with killbox...when i logged on the server busy message appeared but then disappeared without me even pressing a button. Also, after that it never appeared again and also when i was running the scan with ewido, the same pop up ads began to appear again. Anyway here are my logs you requested:

the only file that was in that folder was 'ati2evxx' and i think it's an exe file because its listed as an application, it's attributes are hidden, read-only and system.

well i couldn't find the file on killbox as it said the file doesnt exist but when i searched using the name on killbox i found out that this file could be related to my video drivers as I use ATI but i'm not sure whether the one in my fonts folder is related to my video card but it has the same name as the files that came up when i searched for ati2evxx.

Hmm...that IS odd.

Adh, try looking inside the System32 folder for other folders that could be similar (where the ? is any letter)

Possibilities are:

Fants
Funts etc...

i still have the same problem as the server busy message still appears.Also, rather strangely in my start menu i often have two icons for email,internet explorer and microsoft word.Another thing, i am suspicious about nslookup.exe as i believe its spyware, can anyone clarify me on this plz? here is my hijackthis log:

First off, I forgot to look at this, but I see a problem right off: You're running 2 antiviruses. When this is done, it can cause some major problems.

Currently, you're running both AVG and Norton Antivirus, and ya NEED to uninstall either one. Pesonally, I'd uninstall Norton (I have used both, and consider AVG MUCH better), but thats personal opinion.

Next, you're not up-to-date in your Windows Updates. However, do not run them now. BUT, be sure to run it after you're clean. (I'll try to remind ya after youre clean).

Now, we're gonna run CCleaner. Instructions for this are below:

Begin by downloading CCleaner, and specifically choosing the most recent version.

Then, follow these steps:

1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
2. Double-click on the "My Computer" icon.
3. Select the "Tools" menu and click "Folder Options".
4. After the new window appears select the "View" tab.
5. Place a checkmark in the checkbox labeled "Display the contents of system folders".
6. Under the "Hidden files and folders" section select the radio button labeled "Show hidden files and folders".
7. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled "Hide file extensions for known file types".
8. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled "Hide protected operating system files". 9. Press the "Apply" button and then the "OK" button and shutdown My Computer.
10. Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

Now, install the program. Open it, and choose the 'Options' tab. Inside, hit the 'Custom' tab, and add the following folders (Note: Not all of these files are on every computer. If one of these isn't present, skip it):

C:\Documents and Settings\<Every user listed>\Local Settings\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\<Every user listed>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

After doing this, move back to the 'Cleaner' tab, and inside this, be sure your open to the 'Windows' tab. Inside, check the box labeled 'Custom Files and Folders'.

Next, after following all of these steps, you're ready to scan. Run scans in both the 'Cleaner' and 'Issues'. Note: It might take several scans in each to remove all of the junk.

Now, open HJT and fix the following:

nope, thankfully but when i click on a page on the status bar at the bottom of my screen i can see it go 2 a ad.doubleclick adress and an adjuggler address but i dont seem to get any pop ups. also the proxy overide thing is stil present in my hijackthis log,do i need to get rid of it?also, now that i'm clean should i install service pack 2?

Oftentimes, this depends on the sites ya go to.

Although I fix this sometimes, it's not really necessary--it's about inter-router fixings and such.

We need to re hide system files. To do so, please follow the steps below:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Put a check by "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

O ya, last thing. Ya might wanna consider switching over to FireFox browser. It's very similar to IE, except, its safer and more secure (and therefore have less spyware and such)

This is because FF is less-integrated into the system.
