Download dllfix from the following link.
http://tools.zerosrealm.com/dllfix.exe

Create a folder on your desktop, doubleclick on the dllfix and install it into the folder you just created.
1.Run start.bat and press option 1. 'output.txt' will be created in the folder. Post the log back here please.

Hi. Please run Start.bat again & choose option *2* the select *1* & enter
C:\WINDOWS\System32\OAGFC.DLL
Reboot. There will just be a md5 scan now. When finished reboot again.

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\oagfc.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\oagfc.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\oagfc.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\oagfc.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\oagfc.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\oagfc.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {F4454AB5-8734-43D3-993A-E544B474EC01} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\oagfc.dll

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [twain_32] C:\WINDOWS\twain_32.exe

Reboot & delete the following if found:

C:\WINDOWS\twain_32.exe<<<<
C:\WINDOWS\System32\oagfc.dll<<<<

Download & instal Adaware from here
& update it B4 scanning.
In settings under 'scanning,' have it set to
'scan within archives,'
'scan active processes,'
'scan registry,'
'deepscan registry'
'scan my IE Favourites for banned URL's,'
'scan my host's file.'
In 'tweaks' under 'scanning engine' set it to 'unload recognised processes during scanning.'
Also in 'tweaks' under 'cleaning engine' set it to 'Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion' & 'let Windows remove files in use at next reboot.'
Select 'activate in-depth scan' before starting scan.
When the scan is finished select 'next.'
Remove what it finds by placing a check in the box to the left of the object. Reboot

Download & instal Spybot S&D from here Update it B4 scanning. Go into settings & have it check for Beta releases also & download if available.
After the scan is complete, have spybot fix everything marked RED.
On the page that first opens when you start Spybot there is an option to immunise, you should do this. In the immunise section there is also a link to download Spywareblaster. Download that & you can keep it updated by selecting the same link that you use to download it. Reboot

Post another log after plz.

Well crunchie, i did everything you asked.........except on Start.bat I get an error......"can't find reg. keys" or something like that.
Scanning with HJT, I check the boxes and click fix. The about:blank search page is still there, even after changing it back to msn.com.
Anyway, here's the latest HJT log. Thanks for everything so far. Maybe I'll get this licked...........

Crunchie.........I did the Panda online virus scan, and fixed 6 viruses. Seems to have in fixed at the moment. But I don't trust it. I appreiciate all your time and effort. Thanks a bunch. If there's more I need to do, just let me know!

Thats strange as the dllfix has been working for me on other users computers. There is another way if you want to try that, but it's an older fix.

Please go here & install ALL critical updates required for your system.

Hi. I have this same problem (about:blank page with Search for...)

Splitting your post to it's own thread where you can get better help. Please do not piggyback threads :) .

I have been plagued by this same "about:blank" hijack that keeps reinstalling itself and things like HJT, CWShreeding, Spybot and Adware Away do not do any good to resolve the problem. Every thim I have rebooted the settings have been restored and each new browser version has opened to the "Search For..." page.

Finally one thing I did has now removed this for two days, with no sign of it returning.

I removed the Google search toolbar from my browser.

Does ANYONE who has this browser hijack NOT have the Google search toolbar?

I believe this hijack reinstalls itself from software added to the Google toolbar that is re-initiated each time you start your browser after a reboot.

I do not have the Google search bar and have this problem. I also have a pop-up whenever I start a browser. I am running XP Pro with the latest fixes. I have Trend, Lavalsoft and Spybot but just can't get rid of this thing.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I got infected by just browsing webpages, even with zonealarm, atest XP updates and latest NAV running. Have tried latest ad-aware and spy sweeper. As soon as they remove the keys to fix the hijack, some process immediatly changes them back. I get the popup each time I open a browser also. This is so anoying that I am considering rebuilding my machine from scratch which will take about 2 days. I cant believe you cannot protect your self from such malicious kak.

not ver happybunny.

I have same problem. Tried adaware, spybot, and hijackthis deleting anything obvious, but it keeps coming back. Tried deleting anything suspicious running as tsr first then running above, still no fix.
This one has me stumped so far and is really annoying. Has hijack to "search for ..." and a popup each time. Most memorable is the green caterpillars performing various sex acts.
I don't have any google toolbar stuff.

Anybody know what O2 BHO .......... C:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ojeg.dll is?

I can't pull up any info on what the heck ojeg.dll is. I'm thinking it might be the culprit but am a little scared to delete without knowing exactly what it is first.

ok, I ran panda av and it seems to have fixed the problem... and sure enough, for me it was the "ojeg.dll" that was causing the problem.
I'll bet it uses random or many names, but I'll bet the reason this problem keeps coming back is due to the xxxxxxx.dll file you'll see but won't recognize as anything located in your hijack this post.
It will be O2 BHO ... C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\XXXX.dll

well... it's back
damn still can't get rid of this for good.
I know somone else who has it too.

Panda definitely helps, maybe would permanently fix if i bought it.
What is the real fix for this?
Anyone???

Please post another HJT log after a reboot & I will have another look soon.
