I too have apparently become a victim of the of so annoying about;blank homepage situation. I have attempted to follow the advice posted on other threads, and for a bit...I thought that CWShreader did the trick...but it seems that at around 11 AM every day (not when I reboot...just around this particular time) my homepage reverts back to about;blank and I notice a C:\windows\system32\(different .dll name) appear.

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ocfmmnd.dll< file
C:\DOCUME~1\ROBERT~1\LOCALS~1\Temp< folder contents

In order to view these files you may have to select 'show hidden files/folders.' Instructions on how to here.

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

Reboot normally after doing the above then post a fresh log plz.

Alright, I did all of what you stated and rebooted...but I am certain that I've done things similar (or even exactly) to that before (after reading suggestions on other sites); yet it still comes back after the next day.

Thank you for your help so far. Here is my log from after I rebooted.

I just (at 9:00 PM eastern) ran another HijackThis scan and it seems as though the problem has returned. Here is the log:

It is not the same file, your PC was bridged another time. Just do what you did before, you know how now ;)

Download the following but do not run it yet.

Download & instal Adaware from here
& update it B4 scanning.
In settings under 'scanning,' have it set to
'scan within archives,'
'scan active processes,'
'scan registry,'
'deepscan registry'
'scan my IE Favourites for banned URL's,'
'scan my host's file.'
In 'tweaks' under 'scanning engine' set it to 'unload recognised processes during scanning.'
Also in 'tweaks' under 'cleaning engine' set it to 'Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion' & 'let Windows remove files in use at next reboot.'
Select 'activate in-depth scan' before starting scan.
When the scan is finished select 'next.'
Remove what it finds by placing a check in the box to the left of the object. Reboot

Download and install APM from: http://www.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=apm

Close all windows except HijackThis and fix the lines above.

In the upper window of APM select explorer.exe
In the lower window of APM find and rightclick the BHO from the HijackThis log
Select Unload DLL and click OK on the prompts that follow.

Reboot and scan with AdAware to remove the txt and html protocol association.

Yeah...I know it is not the same file. But the effect is the same...and it keeps comming back EVERY DAY....even more sometimes...sometimes only a couple hours apart. Considering that I have not used my internet aside from comming to this site...I have to figure that there is some sort of reinstaller that keeps putting these files on here.

Alright, I've done everything that you have said and I shall wait and see what happens.

Thank you for your help thus far.
