ive recently had a bunch of adware/spyware (i think) popping up on my computer. they always pop up as internet explorer pages but i only use mozilla. Here is my hijackthis log:

Please download VundoFix.exe
to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HijackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above
instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when
VundoFix appears at reboot.

Please uninstall the Beta version of hijackthis and download the latest version (2.02).

Can you please do the following.

Open a command prompt by:

1. Clicking "Start", then "Run...".
2. Enter "cmd" (without the quotes).
3. Enter "services.msc" (without the quotes).

-

Now, locate and 'stop' the following services, if present:

DomainService - ... (C:\WINDOWS\system32\iixxbybt.exe)

Look carefully, since the name of the service (above) can be anywhere in the entry; also be careful not to 'stop' any required system services. Once stopped, set this service to disabled.

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
2. Click "Open Process manager"

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\iixxbybt.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Scan with HijackThis and then place a check next to all the following, if present:

Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.

Select the first option to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.

Reboot.

To help protect your system from hostile ActiveX content, or special 'downloadable' files:

Download, install and keep updated, SpywareBlaster. If you've installed it for the first time:

1) Check for any available updates; if present, they'll be automatically downloaded and installed.
2) Next, "Enable all protection".
3) Exit the program.

Note: Remember to regularly check for updates.

Download CCleaner and install, then run it.

Uncheck "Cookies" under "Internet Explorer".
Click on Run Cleaner in the lower right-hand corner. This can take quite a while to run.
Close when finished.

After rebooting, rescan with hijackthis and post back a new log. Please let me know how your pc is now.

I had one more question also. There are many things in the startup section on my system configuration utility that i dont want to startup with all the time (quicktime, aim messenger, etc) so when i deselect them it starts in selective mode. how can i get them out of there so they dont start up in normal mode? thanks for all the help.

Log looks ok now. When you go into msconfig to disable those startups, just uncheck the ones that you do not want running then OK out of msconfig. It will tell you that it needs to reboot the pc. Do so. Once rebooted you will get a popup telling you that your startups have changed. Put a check in the box on the left and then click ok.
