Partitioning for linux and windows.

I run windows but have recently acquired a Linux Mint iso disc. I can run Linux Mint straight off the disc for trying it out. There is an icon on the desktop for installing. When installing I select to run Windows and Linux side-by-side, choosing between them on start-up. Then I receive an error message saying something along the lines of 'Some of the partitions you created are too small'. When I get to the stage showed by this screenshot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/38112880@N07/?donelayout=1 what should be my plan of action?

Hello thomasms,

If I were you I would shrink the windows partition down a bit.

I am assuming the partitions needed are 1 ext3 and a swap one.

Shrink your windows partition by about 10 Gig in case you need more space.

Try 1GiB swap and about 8GiB for ext3.

Okay, I'm still really confused. I'll think about it some more and try and give you some more details later on.
