hi
I'm new to unix and i'm taking a tutorial about it , but they mentioned something like the X window system and i don't know what is it ? , so can any one explain it for me , and I'll be thankful.

The X Window System is a window environment used in UNIX. It can also be used in Linux as a way to arrange your desktop, though most distros use desktop environments such as GNOME or KDE. Here's some more information about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_window_system
