Le gros probleme!!

Can anyone help? I lost my volume control. I mean lost the big one, not the small Icon .
If I want to set my speakers balance for exemple, I cannot do it.
Also, separate problem, my ketboard is gone wrong and if I type @ I need to use the " icon and vice vresa and many more.

To resolve this issue, extract a new copy of Sndvol32.exe from the Windows XP compact disc to the system_root \System32 folder on your computer's hard disk. To do this, follow these steps:

Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key as you insert the CD-ROM to prevent it from starting automatically. Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type cmd , and then click OK.

Type the following lines at the command prompt, pressing ENTER after each line, where CD-ROM drive is the drive letter of the computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive that contains the Windows XP CD-ROM, and system_root is the path and folder name where the Windows system files are located (generally C:\Windows):

CD-ROM drive:
cd i386
expand sndvol32.ex_ system_root \system32\sndvol32.exe

For example, if your computer's CD-ROM drive is drive E, and the folder that contains the Windows system files is C:\Windows, type the following lines at the command prompt (pressing ENTER after each line):

e:
cd i386
expand sndvol32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe
Type exit to quit the command prompt.

Verify that you can start Volume Control and that the Volume icon is displayed in the notification area of the taskbar (if you selected this option).

Thanks very much for your answer, only one tiny problem that I have encoutered when trying to get help on various occasions.
My computer came with XP installed so I do not have a CD!

First try this: Go into your Control Panel and open Folder Options, under the View tab uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)", click Apply/OK. Now go into Windows Explorer(Not Internet Explorer) and go to C:\Windows\System32\dllcache folder and open it. Locate the sndvol32.exe file right click it,choose copy. Next go to the C:\Windows\System32 folder and open it. In the right pane right click an empty area and choose Paste. Now you should have your volume icon back.

...then simply place it in your 'x:\windows\system32\' folder (where system32 is in your system root).

You can use windows xp from usb disk too
And get a new keyboard.

The Keyboard problem is usually du to your region/language/Keyboard settings. Sho you should be able to resolve this from Control Panel. You appear to be running with the US keyboard settings.

I hope you don't have one of those awful French keyboards which totally turns the world upside down and explains a great many things!

Nope, I am french but live in Britain use an english set up computer.
But I do not eat English :icon_lol:
I fugure it was the setting somewhere.
