Hey, just reinstalled XP and was wondering what security and other programs are worth downloading

any suggestions?

hi, you title is misleading"reinstall help" you are actually looking for software recommendations ! I will suggest just 3 good free programs,and leave the rest to others who wish to add to the list of many good ones .I will suggest buying a full version anti virus/spyware/firewall complete program ,

3=Ccleaner

Well after you have reinstalled WinXP:
Starting point would be usual suspect Microsoft windows updates, which sometimes takes an hour to download: (No matter what you need them).

Secondly what you will use your computer for?
1) Home use – Antivirus I recommend ESET Smart Security
2) Open Office (for excel and word and the rest)
3) Or buy Microsoft office 2003

These are my suggestions the rest is up to you chief.

I would recommend getting an antivirus. Maybe Comodo Free, use this permanently or until you decide which one you want.

Security is the main concern, get the computer updated install security apps and then put the additional programs on.
