Hello USB problem solvers,
I would like to let you know that I have solved my problem regarding my Flash drive, when I plugged it in to the USB port it was recognised by the system but I could not see what folders it had, so I looked everywhere to find a solution even the knowledge base for XP at MS, it seemed amazing the efforts people go to solve problems like this, it was suggested by MS that the registry was corrupted and that one had to edit the registry to alter the coding, I can tell you I have never been that far. I downloaded a program called Driver Robot which was supplied by Blitware Technology and ran that but that did not even detect that something was wrong with the USB port after it scanned the drivers, it said that many were out of date, so what my computer is still running well after four years, I can't see the point of changing drivers unless part of the system is altered anyway I wrote to Blitware and explained to them the problem that I was having and I also wrote to the computer manufacturer, the computer manufacturer could not be bothered to reply, Blitware asked for the details of the Laptop, they sent me a link to get update drivers and also a USBPatch, I installed the USBPatch and hey presto my flash drive worked again.
!Hoorah!. I am on cloud seven at the moment.
Regards,

Hi,
Good to hear that you were able to get your computer working again but it would help others if you could supply more information about the program you used and a link to the site.
You could also mark this thread as solved.

Hi Bob,
Thanks, I didn't think of that I was so excited about getting it fixed and being able to use the flash drive again. The link for the USBPatch is here

but I also got a link for my update drivers which also included the USBPatch

Hi mdk2k4,
Nice to hear from you, I will have a look at the Devicedoctor program, I think that even though these programs are good and if you think they are better than anything you have used before one can also subcribe something for using them. That is only my opinion.
