My Computer won't boot.

Hi all,

I have had for the last 5 years a PC that I had built for me by a friend with a computer shop. It has 200gb Sata drive, 3ghz pentium processor, 1gb ram, decent 250mb graphics card. Only issues I have ever had is the power supply has packed up twice so got new ones. It does get hammered and has done well.

Anyways my computer shut itself down a few times and I started it back up and got an error message that it could not boot. I left it for a few hours and it booted fine and then the screen froze about 20 minutes later whilst doing tasks.

I am able to go into the bios and go around as I please. I have tried to set the bios to basic settings but no joy at all. Now it goes past the post and boot screens but then goes blank. When I try to do it through safe mode it loads one screen of text then lists at the bottom that it cannot load .sys32 with a load of numbers.

Any ideas as I either get this or when trying to boot it up normally I get a blank screen that will just stay there.

You don't really want sys32.exe to load. You have yourself a problem there... it is a worm or trojan file. Got a Recovery Console handy? Then load it, go into system32 folder and delete [or rename if you don't trust me] sys32.exe, check and delete it also if found in the windows folder.
Try to boot into normal mode, else safe mode with networking. Get and run this:

=Dclick that file, mbam-setup.exe, to install the application,
-ensure that it is set to update and start, else start it via the icon, and UPDATE it.
Select "Perform QUICK Scan", then click Scan; the application will guide you through the remaining steps.
ENSURE that EVERYTHING found has a CHECKMARK against it, then click Remove Selected.
If malware has been found [and removed] MBAM will automatically produce a log for you when it completes... do not click the Save Logfile button.
Examine the log: if some files are listed as Delete on Reboot then restart your machine before continuing.
Copy and post that log [it is also saved under Logs tab in MBAM].

-copy it to a new FOLDER placed either alongside your program files or on your desktop and then...
-in that folder start HijackThis by dclicking the .exe
-CLOSE ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS and any open windows including the explorer window containing HijackThis.
-click the Scan and Save a Logfile button. Post the log here.
