I have had to format our computer (eMachines W6409) and reinstall Windows XP but I can't figure out how to fix it so Standby is not grayed out. I have gone to the eMachines support website and downloaded the chipsets. One of them installed but it still is grayed out. The other one would try to install, but it would stop and say Platform not supported. Does anyone know how to fix it so that we can put it in Standby? Thank you for your help!

Hello,

What you need is the motherboard chipset driver. It has the drivers for the CPU, memory controller and other motherboard resources. Normally it is best to install it first them any other drivers. Without it your system cannot talk to the onboard video chipset so the drivers would not install for it properly.
