Hello,

I came home for Thanksgiving dinner the other night and found out my computer was infected with the Rapid antivirus malware program. It looks just like what pictures I've seen on the other sites, and does the same things. I read instructions on how to remove it, which first said to download a removal tool such as Malwarebytes, Antivirus. Well it wouldn't even let me get to that site. It kept blocking me. I tried to email to myself and open it, even changing the name of it. I could get it installed but it wouldn't open I also already had Spybot SD on my computer but it won't open now either. I tried to manually remove the problem with instructions from the web, such as deleting it through regedit and then deleting in programs I could find. I did all that but its still not gone. I followed your instructions for posting here, but was unable to download anything other than Hijackthis. Here is that log and hopes that you can help me fix it!

Thanks,

Rob

Download Combofix from any of the links below. You must rename it before saving it.

Save it to your Desktop.

[*]You must download it to and run it from your Desktop[*]Physically disconnect from the internet.[*] Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.[*] Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.[*] When finished, it will produce a log. Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Hello Crunchie and thanks for the help. I tried downloading combofix from the links below, but the virus forces the webpage to go to random google search pages or it comes up blank. I tried to copy and paste the link and even type it out manually, but I can't get to the page. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Rob

Hello,

Pls do the following:

1. - Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

Make sure that you restart the computer.

The log can also be found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

2. - Download hijackthis and post the log.

In your reply, post the logs (in this order):
1. - Malware Bytes Log
2. - Hijackthis Log

Thanks,

Cohen

Please go to Jotti's or to virustotal and have this file scanned. Post the results back here.

=========

1. Please open Notepad

 • Click Start , then Run
 • Type notepad.exe in the Run Box.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

KillAll::

File::
c:\windows\system32\fpdlahayjttsjovy.dll
c:\windows\system32\qgkrcfxtxl.dll
c:\windows\system32\gxmemxoxndqamry.dll

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{a2ab94a3-38ae-1af6-2e47-d3c78b87dfef}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{C972FE47-950D-989A-ED2E-AA25D3494D62}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{d331fdf0-0215-4282-1c32-0154e9413963}]

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Physically disconnect from the internet.

5. Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.

6. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

7. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next replyafter you re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix:

 • Combofix.txt
 • A new HijackThis log.

Please take note:

CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

I "think" combofix may have fixed the problem. I show no more signs of the problem, and I can get to all my antivirus software as well as the internet sites. Here is the Malware and Hijackthis logs just in case. Thank you guys so much for all the help.
