Hi,

here is a summary of problem and action taken:

1) Fake anti-virus software alert (opens up fake Windows security alert bubble from icon taskbar in bottom right and internet pages to porn, viagra etc). Each time i try to open programs i get infection errors, do i want to continue etc. I assume these are ok to click OK and proceed.
2)I initially ran Malwarebytes and it detected a problem (first log attached) but after rebooting the issue wasn't fixed. I redid scan again and didnt find anything.
3)Mcafee virus consol found the following => C:\TEMP\syssvc.exe@threatremover.net.tmp
Generic ProcKill.a (ED). However Mcafee couldn't delete it and problem keeps popping up via consol now and again.
4) Followed instructions on forum:
a) Windows Tool didn't find anything
b) ATF Cleaner done
c) GMER Rootkit scanner - tried twce and each time about 5mins through the blue screen of death appeared and fatal disk error message. Rebooted.
d) Ran Malware bytes again - 2nd log attached, no probs found.
e) DDS log file doesnt seem to appear ??
e) HiJack This log added just in case...

Thanks for your invaluable assistance.

yaduks.

You need to run your scans from safe mode (or safe mode with networking). Also on another system download UBCD4win (Ultimate Boot CD for Windows) and use it to boot the system and remove the problem files.

1) Fake anti-virus software alert (opens up fake Windows security alert bubble from icon taskbar in bottom right and internet pages to porn, viagra etc). Each time i try to open programs i get infection errors, do i want to continue etc. I assume these are ok to click OK and proceed.

NO not ok. Each time you click ok are telling the infection to "come on in"

You have run a version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware that is probably 2 years old so it is most definitely NOT going to find any infections that are prevalent today. Current version of Malwarebytes' is version 1.46 and database version is 4194 as I make this post.

You need to follow the instructions given on our Read Me sticky
http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread134865.html
...to the letter, which includes the running of a current, up to date version of Malwarebytes' among other things. Once you have completed all the scans requested please post back here with those logs and we can go forward.

Hi, so prior to getting your advice I tried running the System Restore program in Accessories/System Tools to a point a couple of days previous. This seems to have fixed it.
thanks.

I wouldn't bet on it. Best to follow Judy's advice. Worst thing that can happen is that you have wasted 10 minutes of yur time.
Worst thing is that you are still infected and your pc is doing who-knows-what without your knowledge.
