is it able to use a router cable connected to a modem then to a pc to transfer files from pc to pc....

I don't think so, even if it is, it would be alot easier to use a crossover cable. Crossover cables are just your normal network cables with two wires crossed over (http://www.littlewhitedog.com/content-8.html. You could then connect the computers directly to each over via their network adapters.
