I am currently running a test environment on a SBS 2003.
I had SharePoint Service running for about couple of weeks but after a Windows update by SharePoint stopped working along with my SQL Server.
I found out that all of SharePoint files are in c:\Inetpub\companyweb but the folder is empty. So I was wondering if the c:\Inetpub is suppose to be empty. If not then can someone zip their folder and email it to me?

I have never use sharepoint before so i do not know the solutions to it. Backup your data and try reinstall sharepoint and see whether that cures the problem. If after a reinstall of sharepoint application there is still nothing inside the companyweb folder, that means there is really nothing inside there in the first place.

In my post, reinstall means reinstall the sharepoint application. You uninstall it and install it again. Not reinstall your own laptop, that is wrong.

Well the problem is this sharepoint was part of SBS2003 Premium package so I don't know if I can reinstall just sharepoint without reinstalling server OS.

Does you friends or other people you may know use sharepoint. If yes you can go and check with them whether their companyweb file is empty or has some files inside.

I already tried to uninstall and reinstalling sharepoint but still doesnt work. I think im gonna have to tell my boss to outsource or get a collaboration tool thats on cloud.

But you are not having any problems with sharepoint. Maybe the c:\Inetpub\companyweb is suppose to be empty.

Hi,

OK I have contacted a guy and gave me some instructions on this. He also thinks that the update had uninstalled some SP components and performed some KB uninstallations. May be .net problem as well.
Have you first tried Microsoft SBS BPA? To locate any errors. Btw why don't you backup these? I m surprised to see that.
Anyway here is the solution...

Steps

First heck for the availability of these services.
MSSQL$SHAREPOINT
MSSQL$MONITORING

Reinstall Sharepoint again:

Uninstall Intranet Component

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Select Windows Small Business Server 2003 and then click Change/Remove.
The Setup Wizard appears.
3. Click Next to start the wizard.
4. On the Windows Configuration page, click Next.
5. On the Component Selection page, in the Action column, change Server
Tools to Maintenance, change Intranet component to Remove, and
then click Next.
6. On the Component Summary page, click Next.
7. Click Finish.

Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (SHAREPOINT)

In Add or Remove Programs, select Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine
(SHAREPOINT) and then click Remove. A dialog box appears. To
confirm that you want to remove, click Yes.

Delete Registry Keys

1. Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Intranet
2. Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL
Server\SHAREPOINT
3. Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server
Extensions\Ports\Port /LM/W3SVC/4: (Do not delete "Port
/LM/W3SVC/1:" because it is FronPage Server Extension 2002 which is
installed on the Default WebSite. If you see additional "Port
/LM/W3SVC/X:", backup and then remove them)

Delete IIS Virtual Directory

1. Open IIS, expand servername, Web Sites
2. Delete SharePoint Central Administration (Do Not Delete Microsoft
SharePoint Administration. It belongs to FronPage Server Extension)
3. Delete Companyweb

Note: Companyweb or SharePoint Central Administration may not appear in
IIS. If that''s the case, move on to the next step.
Note: If AV software install any extra IIS web site in IIS, also remove
them if possible. They sometimes use port 8081 which will conflict with our
SharePoint Central Administration virtual directory.

Delete Application Pool: This is an important step

1. Open IIS, expand servername, Application Pools.
2. There should be only 4 application pools (DefaultAppPool,
ExchangeApplicationPool, ExchangeMobileBrowseApplicationPool, and
MSSharePointAppPool). Besides those 4, delete all the extra.

Renae folders

1. Rename C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SHAREPOINT to
MSSQL$SHAREPOINT.OLD
2. Rename C:\Inetpub\companyweb to companyweb.old

Note: Location of the MSSQL$SHAREPOINT folder is determined by
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Monitoring\MSDE_Location.
Check out this registry key and determine the real location of the folder.

Reinstall the intranet component

1. In Add or Remove Programs, select Windows Small Business Server 2003 and
then click Change/Remove. The Setup Wizard appears.
2. Click Next.
3. On the Windows Configuration page, click Next.
4. On the Component Selection page, in the Action column, change Server
Tools to Maintenance, change Intranet component to Install, and then
click Next.
5. On the Logon Information page, click Next.
6. On the Component Summary page, click Next.
7. Click Finish.

Important: If you have the old CD3, SharePoint install will fail at the
end, it is expected. At this point, apply Q832880 -
SBS2003-KB832880-X86-ENU.EXE - and Companyweb should be working when the
patch is finished.

How to determine if you have the updated SBS 2003 CD?

You can distinguish the original by the part numbers on the back inside
ring of the CD. The original CD will have either X10-03462, X09-73282, or
X10-03886 on the inside ring. The updated CD3 has X10-30773 on the inside
ring
