Hello, I'm not quite sure what to expect from this problem but here goes: I have an XP laptop and a Vista 32 bit home premium desktop. I can connect to my network with both, wirelessly. However, my vista computer will only give me local access no matter what I do. My XP will sometimes give me internet access, and sometimes not, I dont know the reasons as Ive gone into the router and all the settings are always the same. My xbox 360 will connect to the internet only when my XP laptop will. I really have no clue anymore as to what I can do to fix this. Please help. I am connected to the internet now on my xp. The ipconfig/all settings are as follows for xp:

It's the Vista settings we need to see then if XP works wirelessly.

Is the Vista wireless card using the same channel as the router?

Have you used the repair connection function for the wireless device?

Is your Vista fully up to date with service packs, etc.?

use wireless configureation setup in vista and try

Yes i have tried the repair connection function on vista with no success. I'm actually using a linksys wusb54g wireless adapter for vista. Does that help?

Is the SSID name for your WUSB54G the same as the SSID you've assigned to the WRT54G?

Are the two wireless channels the same?

I was also confused to see on the XP system that the DNS Server address was 10.31.46.xx. I would have expected it to be 192.168.1.1. Was the XP not connecting to the internet at that point?

me acquired by your wireless network adapter is displayed in the View Status option for the wireless card under Network and Sharing Center.

If the correct SSID is displayed (matching your router's SSID) then there would be no channel problems.
