This is sort of a continuation of this thread:

http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread221897.html

The problem is similar, with a slight difference. Whenever I turn on my laptop, instead of the visuals going BLANK, the visuals DONT COME ON.

Again, I've no idea if this is software of hardware related. I've just recently installed all the video drivers for my computer, but the problem persists. I am forced to hold on to the power button for a shutdown when this happens, which I assume is harmful to the computer. I don't know if this is related, but my rundll32 crashed yesterday.

I've included my hijack just in case:

anyone?

Just wondering, when was the last time you cleaned the inside?
Dust bunnies.
Off hand, I can think of a couple of things that might attribute to your issue; Heat, failing video/graphics, failing memory or driver issue.
I would try cleaning it out first with a can of compressed air, check the fan to be sure it's working. Doesn't sound like a malware problem and BTW, this is not the forum to post a HJT log.
See if that helps any and post back, also include Name/brand and model #

I haven't cleaned the inside since I got the laptop, which was about 2 years ago.

I only lately started to game on this thing (throughout the summer for about a month), and I noticed it heats up a lot, so I got lego blocks to raise the laptop off the desk. This helps a little I think.

I've always posted my HJT logs here lol but I guess I'm in the wrong. Where am I supposed to put them?

My laptop model is HP Pavilion dv9000

All HJT Logs go in the "Viruses, Spyware Forum"

I would still remove the cover plate from the bottom of the laptop and blow it out with a can of compressed air.
You also might want to make a small investment in one of these:
http://www.everythingusb.com/belkin_laptop_cooling_pad_13845.html

I have one for my laptop and it works great.

You might also want to try this;
Take the battery out and disconnect from the external power .
Hold on to the power button for 30 sec .
Connect to external power source (AC adapter) without battery.
Later you can put the battery back and use as usual.

on a sidenote, has this problem happened to anybody before?

Member Avatar for jaypooner

wow, this is getting pretty serious. i had to reforce-restart it this morning about 10 times to get any visuals. it happens when the laptop comes out of hibernation too.

im gonna get a can of compressed air to clean the inside first thing i do when i get out of class.

this is gonna be the first time i open up this thing. any tips?
