I get an error message that stops boot when starting my GW MX6448 laptop to check cpu fan. I opened the access for the fan/heatsink. The fan spins by hand and the area is clean and free of debris, plug is also in. I looked around the web for a new fan but only find links for pulls but even these are on a waiting list. Gateway said the fans are no longer made. I have not touched the laptop as far as upgrades and no changes were made to the system settings or the bios. Can anyone offer suggestions?

Have u asked the Gateway Support staff if they could suggest you any other fans u could replace the original with. There are always alternatives available in the market. CHeck for your self as well to find a compatible fan.
