I moved my little Gateway LT2016u on the kitchen counter one night and it crashed the system when the battery came undone. I put the battery back on and restarted it, but had to move it once again and the same thing happened. Now it shows that a dll file is corrupted or missing. So I closed it down and took it to my grandson to fix. He plugged in the charger to charge it and during that time it made a weird sound and turned off and hasn't been able to start since. What could have happened? could a bad motherboard be the problem? Bad hard drive? Help??

Accidentally removing the power like that can damage system files or the hard drive. When you say it won't boot, do you get the boot POST (power-on self test) that lets you press a function key (or escape) to get to the BIOS setup?
