Any recent system will have USB 2.0 and/or 3.0 connections. What is your motherboard? If it is old, then you may be able to purchase a PCI usb hub to plug into the backplane. Until I know exactly what MB you have, then I cannot help any further than this general info.

maybe ou can check the connection between pin at your motherboard

Is there any other port in your laptop?

Is there any other port for USB in you lappy?

I think first of all you should check the ports ,
after fixing them if the problem persists then you ought to change the mother board may be it's the older one as you did not tell that.
