I'm trying to use adobe audition (an audio editing program) to convert a MIDI file into a .wav file. whenever i try to open the "windows recording mixer", the following error message pops up:

i know its not the programs fault, because i have tried to export the midi file using the program i made it with, and there were no recording lines available from the menu, as shown in this picture:

can anyone help? I've tried running the "add hardware" wizard in the control panel without success. I also don't have my audio driver CD.

audio drivers can usually be downloaded from the manufacturers website. try visiting your audio device manufacturers site. you might have to hunt for it but i guaruntee that there will be some kind of driver there for your specific device.

I reinstalled the audio drivers, and i don't get that error message anymore, but i still can't convert it using guitar pro 4 (the program i made the midi file with). Also, I consulted the help file on how to do it with audition, and it says to set the recording device to an option such as "Mixed output", "Wave", "Stereo", "Stereo Mix", or "What you hear". none of those options are there, or anything remotely close, so after trying them all out anyway, i decided to contact the soundcard manufacturer (Realtek).

So far no help from them, anyone have any ideas?
