Hello!

My friend has Acer Aspire 9305WSMi laptop which does no longer boot when powered, it only gives error message with sound, which is three beeps: One longer, two short. Screen does not react a bit, attached external screen does not react at all. Harddrive does a little of work after the beeps, then the laptop does nothing.

Removing battery has no effect, as well as removal of DVD-drive. I tried "nulling static charge" from the motherboard by holding the powerbutton down for >30 seconds while battery and powercord was removed, but it had no effect.

I've tried to find service manual, but all found are "pay to download". Calling for Acer support would cost ~1€/min, thus neither of us are eager to pay 10-20€ just to hear that the hardware is dead.

My question is, what does the message (beeps) say?

3 beeps mean memory problem, try re-seating you RAM. 1 long beep and 2 short ones mean video problem, try re-seating your graphics card.
Depending on your BIOS manufacturer, you should try this link http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/index.htm

In case of laptop, re-seating graphics card is quite difficult. But I think you're correct with that it has problem with video. Further googling revealed that it could be typical fault for this model.

I need help with an issue aslike this one. In my case it's an Acer Aspire 7741G-6426 wich isn't booting and beeps 20 times (yes twenty times). Can't find the manual online...
