I am a new app developer, and my second app Todobox was released recently. It isnot only an efficient task manager for yourself, but also an excellent reminder for reminding the people around you(for example, friends, families, colleagues, classmates). Jump to PostDo paid ads that show up on other apps. That is a good way in promoting your app with out going on a website.
Or you can do the traditional way of following the seo/smo rules and put links to your app.
You should do both though :)
