Hello,

I have 2 sites with PR4 and one of them dropped to PR2. I really don't know why is that?

I use the same seo strategies by submitting them to social bookmarking sites and article directories.

My question is,

How to increase and maintain Page Rank?

In my own experiences, social bookmarking might be not so helpful for PR purpose though it is a nice channel for SERP or traffics. If you want to increase your PR, using fresh niche relative original page contents plus increasing back links using your targeted keywords as anchor text would be top 2 issues.

If you want to increase you pr then do link building with quality websites and exchange the links with them, but keep in your mind that sites should not be porn, warez, or illegal. also chk that sites should not having more then 40-50 obl.
Article submission to the high pr directoreis like ezine, article pool etc is also good. it is equal to link building. you can also submit the articles to these directories but you article should be include unique and fresh content. it will definitely increase the pr of your site.

@tadisaus2, Increasing Pagerank is useless if you have no traffics. Why don't you focus yourself in increasing your SERPs instead of pagerank?.. :)

Oh, so page rank does matter in seo. I will keep linking my sites to high page rank web pages. However, it is too hard to get accepted from these high pr sites.

In my experience all rankings require maintenance, because rankings move up and down according to a complicated algorithm.
To regain your ranking, focus on things that will give you 'link juice' like back links from higher authority sites. Alternatively, you can build social networks sites on Blogger, Wordpress, Squidoo , then inject these sites with link juice whilst having each one link to each other and have link back to your main site.
