Hi,
Say I have the same content on my front page and another sub page of my site and this is done due to the limitation of my cms then how can I tell inform google which version is more important / original so that they rank that page instead

Any ideas ?

you can't tell google which page to give the preference although if you wanna stop any specific page to crawl you can use robot.txt to do so

You cannot tell google that which page is better and which is not . you can only tell to google that which page should be crawl and which should not
