This one's new. It's just like the counting games, but in this one we count DOWN so don't get confused. I'll start us off. 1000

I'm new to this website and this is my first post. I just got a new computer with Windows ista not ery long ago. I just bought a used wireless router about a week ago. I tried to configure it and couldn't get it to work. Then I realized I should press the reset button on the back and did so. After doing this I let it configure itself automatically. The router is a netgear wgr614 v6. For some reason my computer recognizes the wireless network, but not the internet. I know this is not a problem with the cable …

This thread is about John F. Kennedy's assassination. Talk about anything relating to it like the single bullet theory etc. or talk about who was behind the assassination. Anything about it. Feel free to go off on some crazy rant if you want.

So I just got Windows 7 64-bit and I also have a copy of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007. My computer isn't recognizing the disc at all. It's as if there is nothing in the E drive. Any suggestions? (I have a key, but I can't seem to download a trial version of Office either because they are out of trial keys.)

So, my internet connection works just fine, but those two little computers in the task bar have a red "X" over them which is supposed to mean I have to internet connection and when I go to the network center or whatever it's called, the internet connection doesn't show up. I tried restarting my modem and router and computer, but that hasn't done anything.

Okay, so here's the challenge. I want a continously running program that will automatically close all running programs, log off the user account and shut down the computer when the batterly life of my laptop reaches a certain amount. First of all, can that be done with visual basic and second of all, how would it be done?

Someone suggested it, so here it is. It's the Prime Number game! It's a tough one so be careful you don't accidently mess up. Chances are Someone will make a mistake somewhere or other so if it happens then the next person correct it and post the next correct prime number. They have to go in order from least to greatest (only positive). I'll start us off. (For those of you who don't know, a prime number is any number that is divisible ONLY by one and itself. The number 1 is not prime.) 2

I was talking to a couple friends today about a really old game for NES. Zelda 2: Link. I still have this game for NES but I can't find my NES and its cords in my house (it's cluttered) but I heard you can download an emulator to play on a pc or something like that. (don't even know what one is) as long as it's true that you own the game already anyway, which is the case here. Anybody want to help me out with finding one. I tried but didn't have any luck. I'm using vista if that …

Hi, I'm new to Linux. I just installed it on my desktop computer and I want to put it on the same network as my laptop but I'm having some trouble. Any help? I know it might be hard to convert most files that I might want to share (probably software for that right?) but I at least want printer sharing if that's possible. Right now the desktop (Linux OS) says network then windows network then workgroup then the name of my laptop but my laptop won't recognize the desktop computer. Anybody want to help me out?

If you know who he is, then you know what I'm talking about. If you know any of his one liners, post them here. (None of the ones with the pictures unless you have a picture in your comment.) If you have any jokes that relate to it then go ahead and post those here too. I'll put a few that I remember off the top of my head. Okay, I just blanked. I can't remember any that don't involve something he drew so I'll just use one of those that's easy to understand. Game Set Match = Tennis Set …

So someone tell me if this is illegal or not before I get myself in trouble. I have a little bit older computer that had it's operating system taken out of it or something like that. It used to have Windows XP on it. I have a newer laptop that came with backup CD's and one of them is the Windows Vista operating system. Being as my older computer doesn't have an OS I want to use this CD to give it one. Is that legal or do I really have to go spend hundreds of dollars to buy something …

This thread is only for the purpose of the bracket of the Daniweb chess tournament. If you don't already know about it then you can find out all you want from the Chess Tournament thread. If you post here make sure it is only relevant to the bracket, otherwise post in the other thread. This thread is only so people don't have to go searching for it in the middle of the other thread and to keep the tournament organized. Here it is. I read a lot from "Are teens bad at driving?" and it annoyed me that some people were mad for other people "getting off topic". It happens in every thread. Well, this is my thread and I say you can talk about whatever you want. Feel free, someone say something that's on your mind. Ask me a question. Make a statement. Say something stupid or something smart. Start a conversation about something.

It has a little over 500 employees with the following statistics: *29 have been accused of spousal abuse *7 have been arrested for fraud *19 have been accused of writing bad checks *117 have bankrupted at least two businesses *3 have been arrested for assault *71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit *14 have been arrested on drug-related charges *21 are current defendants in lawsuits *In 1998 alone, 84 were …

I have a program where there are text boxes that accept values and then a command button is pressed. I need to know how to let the program check if the values entered are negative or anything that isn't a number. I also need the program to understand that if the text box is empty it should read that as a value of zero instead of just giving me a runtime error.

Recently the C.I.A. released a 700 some page report detailing illegal activities from the early fifties to the mid seventies. They claimed to have illegally wiretapped people, attempting to poison Fidel Castro's food, tested LSD on people without their knowledge, among other things. What does everyone think about it?

So here's an idea of mine. Tell me what you think about it. If you look at a human they're made up of cells which are made up of organelles which are made up of macromolecules which are made up of molecules whic are made up of atoms, etc etc etc blah blah blah. In chemistry. Anytime something happens, there's always a 100% of a specific result. For example if you electrolyze water it becomes oxygen and hydrogen. That always happens unless there is something that prevents it from happening, in which case that factors into my idea too. Since …

All of my desktop icons have that really annoying little arrow in the corner. Is there any way to get rid of them? And also one of my icons used to be an eBay icon but now it's just an internet explorer symbol in front of a piece of paper. When I right click it and click the properties I see the original icon for it. Any help?

This is just a simple question. There are four command buttons in a control array. I want to write code for one of them that changes the same property in the same way for all of them. When I tried doing this with just a specific button (I entered the subscript) it gave me suggestions as it usually does, but when I didn't specify a subscript it only had four suggestions, none of which were properties that could be changed. How would you change the property of all of them at once?

So a while ago I checked my computer to get its Windows experience index base score. It was 2.5 because of the graphics being the lowest at 2.5 I checked it again just now and this time everything stayed the same except for the graphics which went DOWN to 2.4 Why would it go down? Somebody explain this to me and tell me what I can do to get it back up again.

I don't know a lot about the topic so I thought we could explain it and discuss it. A lot of people don't know that in addition to sound waves and light waves, gravity is also a wave itself. It's just a very weak wave. We also know this is true because of black holes' effect on light. It appears as though there are two identical bodies in space when in reality we are looking at a black hole that is bending the light of an object around us to appear as two objects when it reaches us. Black holes …
