any body tell me best software for logo design

Hi, I downloaded a calendar software for the Mac with a ".dmg" extension. It will not open. The Mac OS-X keeps asking for an application to open the file with. It should open by itself, I believe. Any suggestions?Thanks Manny

The position of the tool pallette has gone from vertical to horizontal. How do I change it back to vertical? Horizontal position is very annoying to work with. Does anyone know? Preferences doesn't do it. thanks
