hi I am asking this question as I have been totally baffled all day on this and have been looking for a fix now for quite a while. My friend presented me with this board after he had attempted to flash its BIOS using the @bios utility on the supplied software disc. After updating the bios the pc auto restarted and upon doing so it presented a blank monitor screen and no post beeps. there is power running to the board as all fans spin up and the hard disk interface adapter lights up but nothing more. I have tried …

Hi there. wonder if anyone can shed a little light on this for me I have been trying to write some files to a brand new completely blank cd but to no avail:sad: the cd writing wizard appears to start ok and gets through scanning the disk image ok. it then comes up with Error: cannot complete the cd writing wizard. i am not sure what to do here as it says that an unknown error occurred and that the disk might be unusable for further work. is there a way of which i can diagnose the exact problem as …

Ok now for a bit of fun... I'm not sure if this has ever been done at all on the forum but its fun anyhow. Basically what you have to do is think of something to add onto the end of what the poster above you has written and make it make sense so in the end we end up with some kind of story. Its fun and it'll put our creativity to the test. no more then 3 lines each though. Ok I'll start. It was late on a very dark January night... (ok now you take it from …

I am currently working on a PC belonging to a friend and am experiencing the following problem. The PC will start up ok but as it is going through the Post process it comes up with KEYBOARD ERROR - KEYBOARD MISSING OR NOT FOUND. I have tried two brand new keyboards that i know work on other machines (have tested them) and both keyboards lights lilluminate when plugged in to the PS/2 port. Im am not entirely sure what the problem is but i think that the port is not properly detecting the keyboard.. I cannot check in the BIOS …

hiya, my brother has a packard bell CRT monitor that is only about 6 months old for 'what i can see' no apparent reason. the problem with this monitor is that about a week ago it started cutting out (i mean totally powering off) when he tries to do anything with it and not just playing highly powered games. it is not a graphics card problem as i have tried the card in my machine and its fine. the native resolutions have been set to 1280x1024 which is appropriate for the card installed. i've tried lowering the resolution but even …

This may not be a dead machines problem so pardon me if it's not My brother has a home built machine running Windows Vista RC1 and this problem has only started since having this particular OS installed. He can power it off ok through the usual resources of telling the OS to shut down etc, however after about 5 to 10 minutes the machine will power itself back on without any user intervention. He has so far got around the problem by turning off his PSU at the rocker switch but he is getting tired of turning the machine on …

Hi there I have a feeling i might know the answer to this already but I'm not positive. My brother has a custom built computer AMD sempron 2400, 512MB RAM, Abit Motherboard, 300GB hard drive. This computer was running XP Professional and Linux, but after a recent reformat it is now running a 6 month trial version of Vista Ultimate. No matter what O/S my brother uses he keeps getting the same BSOD come up 'Driver IRQ NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL' Its beginning to bug us. I've changed the IRQ's on some of the devices but this did not work either. We both …

depends on who makes your motherboard though. Dell especially are quite secretive about motherboard components. when you open up your machine have a look and see if you can determine whos the manufacturer of your motherboard and chipset and what not. take out the CMOS battery and let it be for a short time before reinserting it. this should clear the CMOS settings including your password. good luck

Hi there. Does anybody know how i can stop the Surfairy 16 bit MSDOS subsystem from popping up every time I open a web browser page. My brother tells me that its spyware often used by packard bell but i cant seem to get rid of it. i have tried two or three different antispyware programs to get rid of it but nothing works. i had to reformat the hard drive last week after a virus got through the antivirus softrware hence the reason this surfairy has reappeared. help... its getting annoying.

hi there. i am using my sisters account to ask for this advice i have a 40Gb samsung hard drive with windows xp professional installed on it. my problem is that i have been experiencing quite a few windows errors and BSODs over the last couple of days.
