I got win 7 the same way.

Probably because the computer is so old, you will need at least windows vista drivers. I found that out.

I recommend that you download the Windows Vista driver and install that, that is what i did for my laptop.

Or, if that doesn't work download the windows vista driver, and in the properties of the file select "Compatibility" and select windows vista. Then run the file and install it.

Good Luck.

Cohen

Probably a lot of programs on starting up when you first login. When you go into safe mode it doesn't start everything up.

Follow this link - http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/index.html

Follow what Xlphos has said.

Also do a virus scan, you could have a virus. Just to be safe, might be worth creating a thread [URL="

What operating system are you running?
Have you recently done any drivers updates?

It sounds like it could be a driver issue...

OH MY GOD!!!

That is bad, i did use AVG 8... on XP, but then i upgraded to vista.... and i haven't had any problems...

My Dad uses AVG 8 on XP and it's fine... no problems so far....

I'm scared about it now...

i'm might install something else.....

I need help with a task:
For example, given the input:
doubloons
your program should output:
Yarrrrrrr

I don't know how to do the python script. I have never done Python before.

Cohen
Try this:
print "Hello,", name

Thanks! that worked!

That doesn't work :(

i just want to insert a space, is there a code i can put in?

Thanks,

Cohen

Hey guys,

I need some help with Python (obviously).

I need python to insert a space.

I have:
name = raw_input('Enter your name? ') # prompt and read user's name
and that works, and it asks me for a name, and insert it, then i got:
print 'Hello ' + name
and it prints out
Hello,Cohen
I need to insert a space, how do i do it?

It's for a Australian School Competition - NCSS.

Thanks,

Cohen

Here is my log :)

My laptop seems to running better.... i think last time i did a defrag, i only did it on the C drive (cause the drive is partitioned), this time, i did it on all of the drives :)

Hello guys,

Well, i haven't been around lately, as you have probably noticed.... i got a new laptop a month or two back.... now it seems to be slow and acting 'funny.' I'm wondering if you guys can help me. i used Avast for my AV Software, i have ran Malwarebytes and Search & Destroy, and nothing!

I have below, my hijackthis log, and my malwarebytes log. Any help would be greatly appreciated :).

hhhmmm... this is a difficult one....

What is your virus protection?

Have you tried reinstalling Firefox etc?

Have you tried restoring Firefox etc to default?

Cohen

What program are you using?

It sounds like you are using hotmail. Hotmail only allowed 50 recipients.

Cohen

I would recommend going straight to SP3.

Cohen

It's possibly a hardware problem, or you have A LOT of programs running upon start up....

Go Start > Run > Type 'msconfig' and hit enter > then disable programs that are not needed under the start up tab.

Then reboot and see how you go...

If that doesn't fix it..... i would have a lot on the HP site for problems and contact HP.

Otherwise i would contact HP and get them to have a look....

Cohen

Sorry, but i think the only thing you can do is reinstall windows vista, you'll need to buy a copy.

Sorry, unless someone else has an idea....

Cohen

No Problems.

If you have any future problems, please return to Daniweb :)

Cohen

Download it from [URL="

Avast all of the Way!!!!!

Cohen

If you looking for good Anti-Virus protection, i would recommend Avast, it's free, and is updated everyday, it's very good :). I use it on my XP Desktop and use it on my Vista laptop and have not had a virus on either of then, and it has stopped many connections on my XP machine.... so it is very.

Good Luck,

Cohen
Thank you jbennet. I wanted to also add I have been using Vista with Aero enabled since Vista came out on this machine. I have 2 gigs of ram and it runs just fine. It has a ton of software installed. The 64 bit version will run 4 gigs just fine but I don't believe the 32 bit version will recognize over 3.5 gigs of ram.
Yes that's correct.

Possibly, the virus is still there.

Please follow this thread - http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread134865.html

Thanks,

Cohen

Just to be sure, follow this thread - http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread134865.html

Cohen

There are many ways.

    • If you have a wireless router... you can open up the wireless on the laptop and then connect.
    • You can buy a USB dongle and set up a wireless network via the desktop PC - can be painful, wouldn't really recommend it.
    • Buy a wireless link and set it up.

I have a wireless link at home, and it is very good, and it's very easy to set up.

Good Luck, If you have any questions, just ask :)
