If by thumbnails you mean movie specific thumbnails then:

I know you said you have tried everything else but... well this may be a completely pointless post but: have you tried copying the files to another storage device and then deleting the original file and copying them back.

If you mean just the standard AVI (etc) thumbnails, then i would have thought they would be program specific for you so have you tried reinstalling the programs?

I guess you didn't back up your registry?

roryt 150

wow I never new that. Really interesting there is such a big quirk in windows... although not that suprising.

roryt 150

Well.. the only microphone for PC I have has no power to it. There are two types of power for a mic: battery powered or Phantom power. 99% of computers don't have an output for Phantom power, so if it did have to be powered, there would have to be a battery involved. My mic doesn't have a battery so I presume you don't need a powered mic.

This is posted in the wrong forum really but I will help!

You need to either set the width of the pages (or the div or table that it is contained in) to either about 770px or 100%. This will ensure that to an extent your content will shrink to fit your window. However, all the elements inside your page need to be set with respect to the containing width as well. Post a link to your page if you are having trouble and I'll try and help more.

Above post is true. But mics are also Condensor or Dynamic. They are for different purposes.

They also have different pickup paterns, such as figure of 8 and cardioid.

But basic mics should just work through your sound card.

roryt 150

hahahaa they are unbelievably geeky... but funny. :D

roryt 150

Give it a try, it should work... or atleast pick something up.

If you're thinking of buying a new microphone (for pro standard use) then get:

  • Shure SM58 - really just for live vocals and some studio vox work... but doesn't give the full freq range.
  • Rhodes NT1 - Recording pretty much anything, can be used as an ambient mic, good frequency range pick up. If you want to do a studio recording of voice - this is the one.
  • Shure SM57 - if you want to record from amps or a snare drum.

It will be fairly cheap for you to try what you have... just get an XLR - JACK lead and a large to small jack adapter. Simple.

Let us know what works out.

Your file must be on a web server and be accessed via http. Otherwise everyone would be able to get to any file on any other person's computer as long as they are connected to the internet.

roryt 150

Are you absolutely sure you can't use php or ASP on your server. What host is it on?

roryt 150

NO NO NO....

Make it work in firefox first... that is vital!!!!

It is then pretty simple to make work in ie using internet explorer conditional css.

roryt 150

You could also try www.sxc.hu which is exactly what you are looking for.

If you want to find similar services then rather than typing into google the possible picture titles what you want are "stockphotos".

I hope that gives you better images because google images doesn't tend to give you very high res images.

roryt 150

where you see the id #tabs in the style sheet just set a width there is pixels that works for you.

Then put
margin: auto;
That will make it look a bit better. because I wouldnt change the width of the grey bit because it lines up with the bottom grey piece.

roryt 150

Really good point. I never though of that. But thats not a problem in IE6 is. ;)

roryt 150

It would be so much easier to help you if you gave us a link. Also, I dont think you can set a height with a percentage.

roryt 150

The simple answer is just to forget about it. As far as I can tell it isn't going to change the user's experience of your site that much anyway.

There isn't really any point of them anyway.

roryt 150

I've never ever managed to get favicons to display in IE... stymiee you mention its buggy in IE6> but what about IE7? does it work in that?

roryt 150

If you look in the css you may find that there is a width set for this grey bar. You just need to change that so it fits round that buttons you have left. It will probably look like this:

greyBack {width: xxxPX; background-color: #c0c0c0;}

you simply change the numbers that my lowercase x's represent.

roryt 150

If you are refering to jbennet's example site. That (i think) is just normal html text. So the button is actually set as a background image with text over the top of it. This effects the load time of the page significantly.

roryt 150

Like Kaung said earlier on the best way of practising css is through trial and error. And like most computer related things there are tones of tutorials online. i think you will get a much bigger sense of self accomplishment if you do it yourself rather than use templates.

If you have a spare few hours one night you might find it useful trying csszengarden.com, you will be amazed about how much you will learn by just doing that simple task.
I think its apparant what this guy was up to... (Notice they havent posted since)
It annoys me when people ask a question and in most cases get it answered and then never post again. But in this case maybe he isn't the kind of person you would want advise from, but thats not for me to say :)

roryt 150

TBH I wouldn't touch realplayer it always seems a bit buggy to me. And I don't think it has any cloning software in it.

roryt 150

You may also like to have a look at alcohol 120%. You can select clone cd in there.

roryt 150

I wasn't trying to shift the blame, I do take responsibility. I do understand what you mean about people using the term hack for something different.

Won't happen again

roryt 150

I am very sorry I though you were going to answer his question. I just thought you would have closed the thread because there is no legal way to hack someone/thing.... Sorry

roryt 150

This is illegal and it isn't gonna be easy anyway. Yahoo will have spent years improving their security. There is no easy way.

The only way that isn't really hacking or anything at all clever is just to answer their secret question, if you know the owner well this is often easy and it is actually normally quite easy just to slip the question into a conversation you are having with them...

It may be worth a try,

roryt 150

If you only have firefox installed then you should either

  1. Do a system restore (start>all programs>accessories>system tools>sytem restore) You will need to select a date when your pc was running well.
    or
  2. Reinstall windows fully, this is really a last option.

You may also want to run virus and adware and spyware checks.

The site you mention does not exist anymore.

roryt 150
nah they just DONT WORK. :( its like the codec is gone to play them.
This might sound stupid but are you sure you have the codec. Try download VLC Player from http://www.download.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-2194_4-10267151.html. THis might solve your problem

roryt 150

I hope this isn't a silly question:

but..

Have you accidentally renamed a folder so that the link to these songs are incorrect therefore obviously your media player can't find them?

I really doubt it will be anything to with downloading them of bittorrent (which you shouldn't its illegal) unless they have some seriously clever DRM in them.. but don't worry about that.

Try cutting them from their current place on your pc and putting them somewhere else. Then uninstall Itunes and download it and install it again, then sync all you music into it again.

I can't see a reason why this wouldn't work.

roryt 150

A play virus is as far as you should go and nothing more. Boy, I bet you are regretting ever posting this thread.
Set his stapler in jelly.
That's really good. I think something smaller like paper clips or maybe his mouse!

If you do decide to mess with his computer something like start menu that moves around or just a play virus would probably be more effective.

OR.. you could just sign his email account up to loads of newsletters!
