Hi everyone. I wondered whether you could help me. Basically i have a list of items in a table. Each item will have a hyperlink on it and i would like it to change the contents of an iframe i have on the page - which i guess means changing the src url. I am also guessing that the easiest way to do this will be javascript. I don't really want the page to refresh when the hyperlink is click just for the contents of the iframe to change which will probably be pure text so it won't take long. …

I would really be interested to see whether people in these forums choose to create there own eccomerse site or did you use someone elses software to create it for you? When I say build it yourself I mean you:

Hand Coded all scripts and designed interface.
Buily a Fully incoporated control panel feature
Have a payment process that you made yourself
Have several 1000 items in your site (not just 3)
Basically they are the rules!!!! If you built it yourself I and lots of other people would like to know why?

I have received negative reputation from a member who has been banned - The Dude. The bad reputation was given on a thread that he posted that i said was spam, because it was! So why should i have these reputation points when i clearly don't deserve them?

I want to be able to display in a list as seperate fields: - A product name - Quantity on hand - Price It will display a long list of a couple of thousand but i would like the columns of each to line up. I have been having some serious problems with my PC over the past week or so. Please have a look at this thread which will explain my initial problem: http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread167352.html After replacing the power supply, which appeared to be causing the problem my PC seemed to work again. I backed up all my data incase anything happened again. My computer stayed on for about 12 hours doing this. That was yesterday, and today I turned my computer on again and it has died again :( and won't turn back on - not even for a milisecond like it did before. …

Hi everyone, My computer has just completely died :scared:. I have posted another thread about this in the last few days (when it started happening) but it was just turning off and would turn back on again after a couple of seconds. I have had the computer for about 3 years so it seems strange it has suddenly started to happen. Now it won't turn on at all. I have tried a fewdifferent things so far:

Taking power plug out and leaving a few minutes, putting it back in and trying to turn it on again
I started to …

So now free email providers are starting to offer us huge amount of storage for our mail. But do we really need it? Some people obviously do but then I think if you are receiving that much email then you should probably have company email address or your own family one. So my question is how much email do you have in mb on your webmail? However I realise I have got absolutely tonnes of emails on my hard disk I only have about 200mb on my GMAIL account! So how much do you have? And do you have a …

Something very strange has started happening to my PC recently. For some unknown reason at completely random times, for example when clicking a hyperlink or when changing window, the computer just turns off. Then the front power button won't turn it back on again. You can hear the computer still power adapter wearing away so there hasn't been a power cut or any loss of external power. Once you turn the computer off by the rear power button it will then switch back on and be fine once you turn it back on. I have Windows XP Media Centre on …

So, this is my first Blog entry. I decided to start a blog today because i now have 200 posts woohoo! Anyway on to the subject. Does Dreamweaver really weaver dreams? To be honest I don't think there is a simple answer to that. It really depends on how far your dreams go. I for one like my websites to look as good as possible because when I look at a website to buy something I know that one of the first things that I think is: Would I buy something from someone who has put this much effort into …

I'm in the process of reinstalling my whole pc. I have completely formatted C: and left D: (second HDD) as it was with my data on it. I have reinstalled XP and had next to no problems doing that. My first problem was it seemed to install two versions of xp in dual boot. XP media centre (what it should be) and xp pro (i don't own that!). However, i have just turned off the prompt for dual boot on startup and set media centre as my default os, so i'm not too bothered about that. Btw, xp pro came …

OK, so I don't have the perfect website and nobody does! But I though it would be really interesting for each person to post one thing they do or put thought into when designing a website, please be specific (eg, NOT usability). So, I'll go first, Nice, clean navigation that displays text if style sheets are off! Next..

I wondered what you guys thought about these three graphics packages. Which you use and which is your favourite an what your main use is for them. I have to say Photoshop is my favourite but I did use Paintshop pro for quite a while and that is very good but a bit annoying at times. But GIMP in my opinion is terrible and very hard to use. I DO NOT understand why you have to have "the GIMP" open and then you image in a seperate window.? I mainly use these programs for web graphics and optimizing and editing …

I would be prepared to bet alot of money (if there was somewhere to bet this) that 60%+ have got there homepage set as one of the Google sites. I also bet that 60%+ of them have got the google toolbar. So why do they? To be honest I can't think of a reason to have a homepage set as google because there are much more useful pages like NetVibes. First of all you can search and you can pretty much fully customize the page, I think the only thing they really stop you from doing is making it look …

I thought it would be interesting to see what people can't type or atleast make mistakes on. I know I make mistakes when ever I have to press the (') key and when I have to type unfortunately. I also make mistakes on "color" because in the UK it is spelt colour but because I post on this forum it often becomes luck of the draw which one I actually type. What can't you type?

I would like to be able to close one of my layers which is in a div tag. I have used css to specify an image in this layer and it will have a link in it aswell. I would like to have another text link that allows the user to close this popup. I would ideally like to do this with some javascript that I can attach to the head of my page and a text link that "calls" the javascript in the document. Also, I hope it isn't to much to ask but is there anyway of having …

Almost everyone has it, Adobe Acrobat Reader. But which version. Security staff are reporting that there is a bug in past versions of this popular piece of software. The bug is infact in the browser plugin for the reader that allows users to view pdf documents inside their browser. This bug could allow "hackers" access to the users hard drive! Luckily no hackers are seen to be exploiting the flaw but it is only a matter of time. Unfortunately this bug is present in both the IE and FF plugins and it is not until you upgrade to version 8 …

It's what we have all been waiting for, a flash based solid state memory form that is comparible to a hard disk. Sandisk has launched it's new 32GB hard drive with the use of flash memory. Sandisk claims that this new type of hard drive is faster and it will not lose you data when you and is much harder wearing than your normal hard disk. Have you ever dropped you laptop and lost your data? Then this is what you need. Unfortunately for every good piece of news there is always a down side. This new tech toy is …

BBC Web Design Competition The BBC launched a web design competition to redesign their frontpage for them a while back. I stumbled on it today. The reason I am posting is because I was quite suprised to see the poor designs submitted to this competition. You can see them at the link above. I wondered what you guys thought. I also thought what would be cool is the next time one of these competitions comes up we could have a Daniweb submission. In this way I doubt it would actually be possible not to win. The only problem is the …

The creator of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia has switched his concentration to search engines. Jimmy Wales, owner of Wikipedia has decided to create a new wiki style search engine. Instead of using complicated and sometimes obstructive computer algorithms he is going to use people-power to control the rankings of sites up his search. "At the moment the results returned to those using keywords on sites such as Google are generated by computers which analyse webpages to work out what they are about and how useful they are. Webpage owners use all kinds of tricks to outsmart the computer indexing systems …

How many people have spent time going through pages of google search results to see if their page is there? Well wouldn't it be good if we could just search through the search results, like a filter? Or even in the Google tools bit if you could type in your website and it would tell you for what keywords and where your site appears. If this already exists please tell us. I am very interested in your replies Cheers
