Several things to try: I believe the 'thumbs' are due to hidden folders being on. SO, follow this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Put a check by "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select …

It shouldn't, unless the infected file itself is carried to the new computer.

Let's try this. Go to Run (start> run) Type in 'Msconfig'. (without '') Go to Boot.ini. There should be 2 OSs listed. See if it will let you delete 1 entry. Thanks. Thread moved.

Well outta curiosity (and I dunno whether this is taking place or not), has anybody looked into physical advertisement (ie handing out fliars or something along those lines, in a major city)? I guess this would be easier considering Dani lives in NY...

Several things. Have you checked out your Hosts file? It might be corrupted. Secondly, have you tried putting the IP address directly into the nav bar? I don't know, but I have a feeling it might bypass the Hosts file. If you need help clearing Hosts, post back.

Well I have 3 Dell laptops and love all of them. What I like most is that most arn't as Dell-customized as other brands. For example, when you buy a Toshiba laptop, they install all sorts of junk on there--Dell on the other hand doesn't do this so much.
Can anyone else confirm
I load on Firefox, and it doesn't take that that long, although it can get annoying after awhile when the connection slows down. But that's not too often. But ya, to answer your question, it does seem like the ads slow the page load alittle bit.

Well several things to consider. 1) If youre looking at a laptop, you'll have opt out of building your own. Therefore, taht leaves one of the PC builders around the country somewhere. My opinion: go with a Dell ;). They're sorta cheap, very reliable, and have good tech services. 2) …

Several things. 1) Sadly, the uninstallation of NIS is a very tricky process (they do this so ya don't uninstall it ;).) My recomendation would be to reinstall the software, and then go to Norton's website and follow the directions they give for uninstalling it exactly how it's written. 2) …

Sabatas- What I think the problem is is that Adobe is in a corrupted state on your computer. I would try doing this first: Reinstalling the program like they say. After it's fully installed, try uninstalling again. See what happens. Keep us updated. :)

...Ehhhh, I would strongly recommend reinstalling SP2, as your computer is incredibly vulnerable now from internet attacks. AVs and firewalls won't protect ya from these. What I think the problem is is that your computer is overheating--and hence, removing SP2 lowered the usage a tad. Instad, I would reinstall SP2 …
