I write as the owner of a small IT consultancy for systems administration. We own Visual Studio 2008 Team Suite and thought it might draw independent developers so that we can offer additional services. We now find that a significant number of developers are using 'Subversion' the free developer product. Our concern is that this expensive package might not draw capable and experienced developers. Presently looking for informed opinions on whether the Visual Studio package is something developers value as multiplier of productivity. We also look to broaden the pool of candidates in the Washington, D.C. Metro area with skills …

Have been using Outlook 2003/2007 for years with no major issues. Last week I found that the outbox on both of my machines were not clearing. My Outlook works with a third party internet email service. The incoming/outgoing servers and other settings were appropriate. I next opened a case with Verizon, my DSL service. They are suggesting that the outgoing port has been changed to 587 not 25. The tech went on to say that this change was initiated by Microsoft... Sounded like nonsense to me. Pinging smtp.onebox.com has repeatedly timed out. My suspicion is that Verizon blocked access to …

Took one of my units home to allow one worker to collaborate via VPN to my Vista Ultimate network. To test on my laptop, I have installed the VPN client and seek to get the certificate on as well for a client access connection from outside of my home network. The admin manual is not helpful to me in this instance. The options of 'Generate' and 'Import' are apparent. The 'Generate' option appears to only regenerate the existing certificate on the router. The 'Import' option creates a browsing option which I have tried but no default filename appears. I have …

Ideally I would like to allow different trusted users to access installed app(s) that I select. What are my options and what exploits am I exposing myself to? Guidance sought.

Greetings: I've been asked to configure a server for an existing domain. Although I have some IT experience I've never gone from a server out of the box to complete configuration. Greetings: Recently sought support from the Microsoft Outlook forum. Was referred by a microsoft valued professional MVP to navigate to: http://www.outlookcode.com/d/forms/survey.htm This file allows one to pose five questions as opposed to the single question in the default Outlook. Launching the file only launches a new email to compose. My follow up question at the Microsoft site has gone unanswered. There is also some free coding to compile the responses. Would be a great thing if it worked. My office uses Outlook 2003 and the latest version of Exchange server. Hoping to find someone with a similar interest and some …
