## RenanLazarotto Posting Whiz in Training

Hello people!

I want to develop for Windows Phone (7.5/7.8). Can someone point me where I should start?
I'm kinda familiar with C#, I need to know what changes from C# development on desktop and C# development on WP.

Sorry for the vague question, I really don't know where to start. Thanks!

## RenanLazarotto

This has been dead for a while, so I think it would be nice to come back here and give feedback. I gave up this project a long time ago as I will no longer work making sites, but I'd like to thanks anyway to those who helped me.

Cheers!

## RenanLazarotto

This was no kind of inconvenience :)

Thanks for the help, will try it now! It'll make the logon process much easier and quicker now :)

Quick Edit
It is working now, thanks Dani!

Hello!

I'm having the following problem: I've logged into my acount (this one I'm using now) and noticed that there where a new facebook integration, but haven't found anyway to add it to my account.

So, a few moments ago I've made the mistake of logging in with facebook and it created another account for me, named "renan.lazarotto" while my main alias is named RenanLazarotto. So what I'm asking is if there is a way to merge those two accounts (or ever better, add the facebook login to my main account, RenanLazarotto) or a way to delete the new one and link my facebook to the old one.

I'm pretty sure that there might be a way to add facebook login to your account and I was the one who didn't searched enough, but now it is too late (shame on me).

Thanks anyway!

Well, its been a quite time, so I thought it would be nice to give some feedback.

I'm not working on any project that needs this right now, neither I think I'll be working on it in a near future. Thanks for everyone's help, I managed to get it working anyway with the piece of code that Troy III provided right above me.

Cheers!

Troy III, thanks for the help, but there isn't any way to do it with animations/transitions?

And, well, my CSS wasn't ready at all, since I'm still at the beginning of the site. It may change completly... I'm thinking that I might use only one color since what I want appears to not work without animations...

## RenanLazarotto

Ok, so this is the code of the menu and the line I said:

<div class="linha"></div>
<div id="wrapper">
<div id="menu"><a href="home.html" class="home active">h o m e</a><a href="#" class="trabalhos">t r a b a l h o s</a>
<a
href="#" class="experimentos">e x p e r i m e n t o s</a><a href="contato.html" class="contato">c o n t a t o</a>
</div>

and these are the CSS styles that match the ids/classes above:

.linha {
width: 100%;
height: 3px;
background-color: #E51400;
}
width: 100%;
text-align: center;
font-weight: 400;
font-size: 1.6em;
color: #333;
}
.home {
text-decoration: none;
border-bottom-width: 1px;

I've been away for what, two days, and now I have all these answers! Thanks guys.

Troy III, can you explain your code a little more? I'm such a novice on JavaScript and don't know how to use it.

JJenZz, your code didn't worked on Chrome.

Let me explain a bit better what I want: my site has a line on its top, like a header, and right below it has a menu consisted only of links (no lists). What I want to do is that when the cursor goes on a link, the line on the top of the page gets the same background color of the hovered link, since each link will have different colors.

I can share my CSS and my HTML file if it is needed.

Hello guys!

I'm trying to change an element background color when my mouse goes over another element. As far as I know CSS, this seems to be impossible to do only with CSS, so what kind of js I need to do this? My knowledge in JavaScript it too limited for me to figure on my own.

Thanks!

ome2012, thanks for the tip, but since I'm a bit prefectionist, I want to reproduce the icon exactly the way it is :P The "twitter" text is inside <span> tags, which have this code:

.social > ul > li > a > span { height: 0; overflow: hidden; display: inline-block; -webkit-transition: height .2s ease-in-out; -moz-transition: height .2s ease-in-out; -ms-transition: height .2s ease-in-out; transition: height .2s ease-in-out; }
.social > ul > li > a:hover > span { height: 12px; }

But, when I try to do the same height thing, it doesn't work at all, the text is always there.

I've tried to do something like .myclass > a > span and .myclass > a:hover > span, but no luck. maybe it needs to be inside an unordered list? Also, can someone explain what is this > in the code? I'm pretty new to lots of CSS things and don't know what this means.

Here's a link to the WinRumors CSS file: http://www.winrumors.com/wp-content/themes/winrumors2/style.css?1322953417 (is this okay?) The most important classes are twitter, facebook, youtube, social, since this is what I'm trying to replicate.

Thanks to everyone who's helping!

## RenanLazarotto

But, there is one thing to note. They're moving the image 5 pixels up AND showing some text that is hidden. The matter now is the text to me. What kind of function do I need to use?

Sorry to sound so noobish and sorry to ask too many questions, but I want to know how it works so I don't just copy and paste some code that I don't understand. :D

## RenanLazarotto

I test my sites on latest Chrome, Firefox, Opera and IE9. I would test on Safari too, if it had an newer Windows version. I think that those are the most used browsers so far.

But, and I don't want to sound an idiot by saying this, I still don't know how to do that hover effect. It isn't something that I desperately need, but it is something that I think it would be awesome to know. I'll try to look at their source-code, but I'll still wait for some replies here.

Edit:
I was looking into the code and this was what I found:

<a class="twitter" href="http://www.twitter.com/winrumors" title="Subscribe to &#64;winrumor&#39;s Twitter Feed"><span>Twitter</span></a>

And the matching classes:

.twitter { background-position: 0 0; background-color: #66ccff; }
.twitter:hover { background-position: 0 -5px; background-color: #66ccff !important; }

But, it still don't make much sense to me.
Also, the containing list has those classes:

.social { margin-bottom: 16px; }
.social > ul { overflow: hidden; }
.social > ul > li { float: left; margin-left: 4px; display: block; }
.social > ul > li:first-child { margin-left: 0; }
.social > ul > li > a { display: block; width: 56px; height: 10px; color: #fff; padding: 54px 8px 8px; background-image: url(images/social.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; font-size: 10px; line-height: 12px; font-weight: 700; -webkit-transition: background .2s ease-in-out, -webkit-transform .1s ease-in-out; -moz-transition: background .2s ease-in-out, -moz-transform .1s ease-in-out; -ms-transition: background .2s ease-in-out, -ms-transform .1s ease-in-out; transition: background .2s ease-in-out, transform .1s ease-in-out; }
.social > ul ...

## RenanLazarotto

Thanks for the replies! I don't want to copy their work, I want to learn how to do by myself. This don't count as copying, does it?

Anyway, why I shouldn't use CSS transitions? They're pretty nice, clean and I think it is better to use CSS than jQuery/JavaScript.

## RenanLazarotto Posting Whiz in Training

Hello guys! I'm making a site and I want to add a mouserover effect on the social-network icons, exactly like what WinRumors (http://www.winrumors.com/) have on their social icons. To understand what I mean (and what I want), open the WinRumors site and place your cursor on top of any of the social icons (twitter, facebook...).

I've tried searching an how-to over the web, but haven't found anything like that. I don't know how to do it by myself, so I'm asking people that know much more here.

Can someone help me? Thanks in advance!

## RenanLazarotto

Hm, no one can help me?

## RenanLazarotto Posting Whiz in Training

Hey guys! I want to publish my app with a single file, but I have an external dependency which I want to embbed in my app and load it at runtime.

Most of the codes I found over the web were meant for non-referenced assemblies or didn't mentioned it at all.

How can I accomplish this?

Thanks!

## RenanLazarotto Posting Whiz in Training

Hey guys! I have an ready app that I will publish and maintain via Google Code. But I think it would be nice to have an update feature, but I cannot figure a nice and easy way to maintain by my own. So I did a search on Google and found about ClickOnce.

Even after reading a lot, I still don't know what do I need to do. Where do I point to update? What do I upload do Google Code? Do I need to upload every single file or only the .manifest one? There is another easy way? If yes, can you point me?

I know that there are lots of questions, but this is one thing that I must learn. :D

## RenanLazarotto

Granted. As soon as you get older, you'll forget everything you already knew and you'll get more dumb than a door..

I wish I was not so fat.

## RenanLazarotto

Actually, I want to add the found files (or, to be more precise, it's full path, like C:\path\to\my.file). I need to search them around the user's filesystem, which seems that is exactly what BobS0327 posted. Thank you, I'll try it better later, I'm at College right now.

## RenanLazarotto Posting Whiz in Training

Hey guys! I want to make a simple app that will search for a predetermined file name and will list all occurrences in one listbox.

I've searched on Google, but all the "search files" codes that I found were somewhat confusing. Can someone provide me some info so I can accomplish this? Thanks!

## RenanLazarotto

As you can see, it really starts with B. Don't see it? Look closely (;

## RenanLazarotto

Seems that I wasn't very clear. I know NSIS, Inno Setup, InstallShield and many others. But the one that I want is the same that made that setup I've linked before.

If I'm not wrong, it's name started with B (which doesn't help in anyway...). It had a kinda simple UI, with some side options and tabs.

## RenanLazarotto

Hm... Interesting.
This seems to be the easiest solution. I'll try it, thanks!

## RenanLazarotto Posting Whiz in Training

Hello guys!

It's been a while that I'm looking for a specific software that I cannot remember the name. I've found it once, but I lost it.

It's a small install making software, the same used on this installer: [url]http://www.axialis.com/iconworkshop/[/url]

If someone knows, I'll gladly thanks for the software name!

Someone to help?

I'm using the standard picture box control, I just need to make the fade transition.

Here's the image:
[IMG]http://i.imgur.com/2bVC9.jpg[/IMG]
As you can see, its bottom is a fading green, which would mean that there's something more below it. So, as soon as I scroll down, when I reach the end of the image, that fade would dissapear. Also, as soon as I scroll down and it hide some image on the top, the fade would appear there too. Maybe I can to that overlaying one picturebox with another?

## RenanLazarotto

Inside C#? I don't see how this gonna work, and I would need to learn another programing language just for this. There's must be another way. :)

## RenanLazarotto Posting Whiz in Training

Hello guys!
I've started a new app that I need to fade two images. One of them will be the background and other will fade-in on mouse hover and fade-out on mouse left. After some search around the internet, I didn't found anything that I could use. Can you guys give me some help?

And I need nome more thing. I want to have faded borders on some images, top and bottom to be more precise. There is some way to apply a mask to the images so when I scoll them up and down their borders will look faded? If my explanation don't help, I can post an example image.
