Well done :)

I have been working on a facebook share button for my website for three days now and I am having a hard time to get it work.

I tried several things and I think I am close. Below, I post the code I use. If you thing you understand what my error is please let me know. Also I have posted a screenshot of the share window in which the meta information is missing.

On the image you can see that the meta tags are not presented. e.g the title, description, etc.

The code :

    <!-- Facebook Share Button Functionaliy -->
      <script>function fbs_click() {u=location.href;t=document.title;window.open('http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u='+encodeURIComponent(u)+'&t='+encodeURIComponent(t),'sharer','toolbar=0,status=0,width=626,height=436');return false;}</script><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=<;url>" onclick="return fbs_click()" target="_blank">Share on Facebook</a>
      <!-- / -->

I also included JavaScript SDK

<!-- JavaScript SDK - Facebook Integration -->
<div id="fb-root"></div>
<script>    (function (d, s, id) {
        var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
        if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
        js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
        js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1";
        fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
    } (document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));
<!-- / -->

And also included these meta tags in head

<title>Website Title</title>
  <meta name="description" content="Website" />
  <link rel="image_src" href="http://www.websiteurlpicutre.com" / >

<!-- OpenGraph Facebook Meta Tags -->
  <meta property="og:title" content="Webiste Title />
  <meta property="og:type" content="website" />
  <meta property="og:url" content="http://www.webiste.com/" />
  <meta property="og:image" content="http://imageurl.com" />
  <meta property="og:site_name" content="Website Name " />
  • Note that meta tags have been changed for posting this into the forum

The output is:

I am trying to export my Joomla 1.5.23 mysql database. I have no phpmyadmin. I used several ways like this (http://faq.1and1.com/web_space__access/mysql/13.html) but I get an error message saying:

There was an error during export. Please check your values:
MySQL Database Name:     HIDDEN
MySQL User Name:     HIDDEN
MySQL Password:  NOTSHOWN
MySQL Host Name:    localhost

I found my database information (username, password, database name) from the configuration.php file in Joomla's directory. I also tried the prefix in front of the Database's name.

Does anyone have any clue what the problem might be?

Thanks a lot for time and effort putting on this.

You did help. You made me realize that I have to find another way of doing it. I searched the net for it and found nothing.

So, when I saw this article I found the solution. I saw it before but I didn't think of it. The problem is that I have many strings. I have to make a byte array for sending the data. So, what I did is to merge all the strings with concat function and then send the byte array. Ta-da!! It worked!

Thanks Dean_Grobler! I really appreciate your help :)

I am sending data from a server to a client using UDP. I am getting the data from a database. The first string is the user's name and I am trying to send it to the client for showing it on the homepage. Something like: Welcome <name>.

For sending it using UDP I have to change it to byte.

so if it start with - and be "-Testing" is it ok?

Hello all.

I have a string, e.g. "Testing" and I try to convert it to byte but I get a NumberFormatException. I tried with (byte), Byte.Parsebyte.

Any help?

I am working on a server-client app but I am facing a problem.

The problem is that I don't know how to do unmarshalling properly. As an example. The client sends a request to obtain alist of existing blog records from the server. The server connects to the DB, retrieves all the information and send it back to the client. Then I get the response at the client. I try to unmarshall the data but I don't know how the unmarshalling will "cut" each string properly.
Lets say, 2 strings, user and title. On one case the length of each string might be 6, 13. In that way I will use :
String user_text = new String(received_bytes, 0, 5, "US-ASCII"); and String title_text = new String(received_bytes, 6, received_bytes.length, "US-ASCII");
What if now in the next entry the strings' length are 7 and 18?

I know that the solution might be very simple...
Any help would be appreciated.
