Hi there,

I have encountered a strange bug. I have buttons advancing one frame forward and back.

It works in the SWF on its own, it works in both the .app and .exe projector files, but it does not work accessing the SWF via the HTML generated page.

Does anyone have an inkling what's going on?

The code on the two buttons is:

import flash.events.MouseEvent;

stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;

function next1Click(event:MouseEvent): void {
gotoAndStop(this.currentFrame + 1);
}
function back1Click(event:MouseEvent): void {
gotoAndStop(this.currentFrame - 1);
}

//EVENT LISTENER AND VARIABLE DECLARATION
balancingNext.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, next1Click);
balancingBack.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, back1Click);

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi there - I had written some php for users to login to a password protected part of our site. Today an SSL certificate was installed. Previous to the SSL being installed the pages would timeout and kick the user out to the login screen after a certain period of time. Since the SSL was installed it kicks the user out to the root of the site. The only difference was that I had to change the .htaccess file to route everyone to the https instead of the http. Could this be the error?

The .htacess code is:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} !443
RewriteRule (.*) https://www.mydomain.com/ [R]
The php code for the timeout (at the beginning of each file in that directory) is:
<?
session_start();
$inactive = 200;
if(isset($_SESSION['start']) ) {
$session_life = time() - $_SESSION['start'];
if($session_life > $inactive){
header("location: https://www.mydomain.com/subfolder/index.php");
}
}
$_SESSION['start'] = time();
if(!session_is_registered(myusername)){
header("location: https://www.mydomain.com/subfolder/index.php");
}
?>
That worked perfectly! Thanks so much!

Royalty-free does not mean you don't have to pay for the image; it just means that when the image is purchased it is yours and the owner can't make you renew a license, or yank the rights, the way they can with Rights-managed images.

Wikimedia Commons is a great source for FREE, Royalty-free images.

Blackberry won't play swfs.

What version of Flash do you have available and what other video-related software do you have (Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder, Final Cut, Compressor, Avid, DPS, Vegas, etc.)?

I'm willing to bet that your Photoshop document is a higher resolution than the image you are downloading from the web. If you are designing for print, HD video, or tablets (like iPad), your document may very well be set at 300dpi or higher (dots per inch). Web graphics are 72dpi. So while it may be 1000x1000 pixels at 72dpi, at 300dpi it will be a much smaller image. You can drag up the size on your own, but it will result in diminishing the quality of the image (pixilization, blurriness). Despite what CSI tells us, there is no way to effectively fill in image information and make a low resolution image look good at a higher resolution.

In Photoshop go to Image > Image size and check the dpi of both images there.

Hi there - I'm happy to become part of the Daniweb community. I suspect I will be spending a great deal of time here, having recently been thrust more deeply into the world of PHP and SQL, and in advance I appreciate your help. In return, I would be thrilled to share my other skills with you, namely in the realm of HTML, CSS, Multimedia for web, mobile and tablet (video, audio, pesky codecs, DVD programming and conversion for online, 2D and 3D animation), and mad troubleshooting skills.

I am a web developer who has just had PHP thrust upon me. I have created a login-protected site and have put a timeout script on each page which redirects the user back to the login page if they have left the site idle for a certain period of time. In Opera and Safari it works great but in Firefox the login page still has the login credentials in the text fields, so anyone could just press "login" and log right back into the site, which sort of defeats the purpose. Exhaustive Google searches have turned up nothing.

Any advice is much appreciated!

The timeout code I'm using is:
$inactive = 200;
if(isset($_SESSION['start']) ) {
$session_life = time() - $_SESSION['start'];
if($session_life > $inactive){
header("location: http://www.fakedomain.com/index.php");
}
}
$_SESSION['start'] = time();
