I won't be invisible by default. But you could go into each OS and unassign the drive letter for the other installation/disk via disk management.

Hey Vinny,
MS has a memory diagnostic test you can use to check if it is your memory. http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

What is the complete model # of your motherboard 865GVM3-V (775), 865GVM2-LS (478), or 865GVM-S (478)?

Hey Dougie,
It is not possible to save your bios setting when changing the battery. Your system needs to be powered off make sure you unplug the power supply as well. The easiest thing to do is copy all of your bios setting down before you switch your battery. Just curious why are you changing your battery out? Do you lose your bios settings when you disconnect your power?

You are getting denied access since you removed the OS of the system that assigned permissions to these folders. Each user account has a different and radomly generated SID (Security Identifier). Try the steps below.

 1. Right click on the drive in question i.e. D: from my computer and select properties
 2. Click on Advanced
 3. Click on the Owner tab
 4. Check the box "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects"
 5. Highlight the administrators group and click ok
 6. Click Yes to blah blah blah replace permissions

Let me know if it works.....

Sorry the link I gave you was PC's not for laptops. Laptop HDD will run a little bit more. If time is not an issue when you remove the drive call the manufacture HDD usually have anywhere from a 3-5 year warranty on them, you might be able to get a replacement drive free if you do not mind the wait. My free time is sporadic if I am not busy when you get your drive I will give you a hand.

It is possible you video cards can't handle the load or you have your video setting to high. Set your video card to the lowest possible setting and try to duplicate the problem.

Ellis,
There could be several reasons why your (yes you are correct Hard Disk Drive) HDD went bad. I really couldn't tell you why yours went south. One thing to always remember never ignore a clicking hard drive it is only a matter of time before it fails anywhere from hours to weeks. Also if you hard drive starting making noise NEVER shut down your computer until you have all your data copied off.

It is not uncommon for a HDD to crash. HDD are really cheap now you can pick one up for as little as $45 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?N=2010150014+4025&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=14. If you have any other questions let me know.

You should be able to copy these over by hand. Copy the contents of the saved Favorites folder to c:\documents and setting*username*\Favorites.

One additional note... Your Yahoo DSL connection uses a Static IP address where Cox uses DHCP. So write down the IP address, gateway, dns, etc before you enable DHCP so you don’t have any problem connecting when you get home.

1. Right click and select properties on "Network Connections"
2. Double click on Internet Protocol TCP/IP
3. Copy down IP, Subnet, Gateway, and DNS ip addresses.
4. Click "Obtain an IP address automatically"

If you do not want to go out and spend the money on a router follow these steps.

1. Unplug the cable modem for at least 5 seconds
2. Plug the network cable into your machine

4. type in ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew
5. You can skip steps 3-5 if you reboot but it is faster to run the ipconfig command

Thanks,

If you are a gamer or require high-end graphics defiantly, go with PCI-E x16. The two PCI-E x16 slots are for the new technology called SLI Scalable Link Interface for Nvidia and Crossfire for ATI. This will allow you to piggy back two video cards for an additional 20-30% performance increase. Both video cards have to be identical in order for this to work.

As far as your bonus questions, yes the newer mobo’s only have PCI-E and PCI slots no AGP. I just picked up ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe which I am very happy with http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813131013.

Besides the SLI/Crossfire, technology there has been some huge improvements with mobo speeds and CPU’s. Mobo’s now have DDR2 800 with memory bus speed of 800Mhz compared to pervious 667Mhz, CPU’s now have a FSB Front Side Bus 2000/1600 MT/s, SATA II with 3.0 Gb/s versus 1.5 Gb/s, as well as SLI mentioned earlier.
