Latest Digital Marketing Posts

Dani Horowitz remains as passionate about our online community today as she was back in February 2002 when, while pursuing a computer science degree on Long Island, NY, she founded DaniWeb. Fast forward to now, and an amazing half a billion visitors later, DaniWeb has become a vibrant community of members learning, sharing knowledge, and engaging with other developers, IT pros, technophiles and computer hobbyists. I've been talking to Dani about DaniWeb in the context of a dynamic and evolving online advertising market...

HG: Tell me a little about how DaniWeb itself has adapted to a changing online advertising market?

Dani: DaniWeb was founded in 2002 and by 2003 had become one of the first online 'publications' to independently track and monetize user behavior. Skip ten years and, in 2013, I developed and launched an algorithm to match question askers with likely answerers based on tracking user behavior across DaniWeb. This was a necessary change as by 2013 we were dying a slow death thanks to there being no more demand for Q&A-based tech sites. Between the likes of Stack Overflow, Quora and Reddit they are successfully able to handle Q&As more efficiently than we ever could, and there's no use in competing with them.

HG: So was that a Google thing then?

*Dani: It's not that Google is anti-DaniWeb as such, but rather that Google would love us more if we were able to figure out a way to hit their sweet spot like Stack Overflow has done. ...

It doesn’t matter whether we are talking about video marketing, SEO writing, or automation, everyone is trying to find ways to make sure that they grab as much attention from the consumer as possible, in hopes of conversion. How AI Will Change “The Search”

We all understand that artificial intelligence is considered to be revolutionary for the retail sector because it can tell us more information about the consumer than before. Its really a good question , you can definately rank your website on top without any backlinks too .
But that depands on competition , if in your industry the competition is very less then only with only a perfectly done on-page SEO also rank your website in top .

Backlinks are necessary to build relation and authority. Nothing much to say more.

Dear @rproffitt,
Once again thanks for your explanation here.

I know what you mean. And definitely not PC.

Lol. Spammy.

Soammy?

For the best strategies, I suggest you subscribe to the email newsletter at Outreach Mama. He gives some good tips. Check out Moz as well

As far as actual sites that allow backlinks, we no longer allow this to be posted because it has just gotten soooo soammy. Check out blackhatworld.com for lists.

Or, just google your site’s niche + “guest posting”.

What are the best strategies to do off-page optimization?
Would you please provide me sites that allows backlinks?

Thank you.

I believe you should also try Instagram plus proper keywords. In my experience, though I have a few followers as a starter, it is easier to get hearts when you nail the proper keywords/hashtags. You should also keep on posting contents and analyze where do you get most likes. What kind of posts attract people who visit my social media site? I hope thjs helps.

I don’t know any SEO specialists with experience with Adobe Analytics. Maybe it’s just me.

I’ve found press release websites don’t perform as well as they used to.

1 good quality backlink can be worth 100 poor backlinks. For top tier (e.g. editorial backlinks from sites like the Huffington Post) then look into responding to HARO queries on a daily basis.

What I suggest you do not do is make a lot of posts on Daniweb that contain links to your web site.

As for me there are a lot of methods to make your rank higher. For example, guest blogging. Why? Cause it is one of the quickest way to get quality backlinks.
Use social media to post your content there and as a result you can get better Social Media Traffic.Reach out to forums, newspapers, and communities to spread more about you and get a backlink at the same time.
Use also email outreach to influencers, broken links method and other methods and never waste your time with links that might cause trouble. You need to build only quality backlinks.Do article marketing on relevant websites.
Another great way to get quality backlinks to your blog is by using press release websites. What can help also - commenting.

Regularly share your content on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. If there is such possibility to ask other people/friends/etc to promote your page, do it. Add links to active social profiles on other social profiles.
And register on Twitter, it is a powerful platform now. With the help of hashtags, you will grow quickly your social media audience.
Moreover, you must interact with people on your social media profiles. Reply To the comments, talk to them and network. They are the ones who are going to tell their friends about you and your awesome instagram page.

google analytics. best ever

@cameliajohn. I can't stress enough that the carbon industry is one we need to pivot or move away from unless it's in capture or carbon neutral products.

As "Bill Nye says "the planet's on f*ing fire" and we need to "grow the f up"" in John Oliver's piece at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDcro7dPqpA the alarms are going off and we must take action at all levels.

I do see hope as the UK in 2017 "The switch to natural gas and a stiff tax on CO2 have helped drop emissions 36% below those in 1990." and it's declined even further since then.

Here's Bill Nye explaining why Co2 emissions went down:

And Bill Nye showing us what's going on now (exaggerating but you have to today.):

Dear rproffitt and Dani,

Really thanks for your time here.

I offer this without judgement.

Maybe you want to become an "influencer"? There are resources and discussions about that.

It's pretty simple I guess. What you post on FB is not interesting enough to engage clicks and if visitors bounce off your website pretty quick, then there's something seriously wrong with the landing page.

You post for quite some time about your meme site, but never include a link. Can you post a link, so I/we can see what might be causing a high bounce rate? Also what's your FB page?

EDIT:

because I am mainly focusing on desktop traffic

Why? Loads of users use the FB app on their phone, so what about them? Seriously, I'm really curious to your meme site :)

There are articles about that topic but from what I've seen of your posts here you seem to be directionless at times or jumping from forex to memes and web site building. You may want to pick areas you like doing and do your best at those.

I think details matter. Don't leave odd things undone like your current tagline. Correct the spelling at the very least and then consider something with meaning.

As to memes, I don't see how you can compete with juggernauts like imgur.com today. How are you unique?

I have a memes website and I want to drive traffic from social media. I have a Facebook page with 20,000+ fans but when I post I hardly get any traffic.
I also tried Pinterest but most users just bounce off the website, although it can drive a good amount of traffic.
I haven't tried Twitter and Instagram and that is because I am mainly focusing on desktop traffic.

What social network should I condition or recondition to drive traffic? I want to work with one?

A 5xx error means that the web server is configured incorrectly. When I tried to load your website, it took a very long time to load, but it finally did, without any 5xx errors. It's possibly that your website was temporarily down while Googlebot crawled it. However, this problem is not related to anything wrong on the SEO side. It has to do with the server that's hosting your site.

I've seen folk try to use SEO and such as you listed but their basic product and reputation remain the same. I consider product, company and the folk that run the company the foundation. If these are missing then proceeding with more marketing does not change what they are building on.

Yes, product, company, and company leaders are the foundation, and if they are missing, any amount of marketing won't help. However, I still feel like it's incorrect to say that digital marketing is not special from the forms of marketing that came before it, it's just marketing over a different medium, and nothing has changed in marketing.

Hi Dani,

I've seen folk try to use SEO and such as you listed but their basic product and reputation remain the same. I consider product, company and the folk that run the company the foundation. If these are missing then proceeding with more marketing does not change what they are building on.

There's also a problem with the OP's basic business. We should see the Carbon Industry take a run up before it really tanks. I supplied a video that did a longer take and easier for some format than https://seekingalpha.com/article/4225153-evs-oil-ice-impact-2023-beyond .

My advice is to do what business you can and pivot out of the carbon market gracefully before you find yourself even more deeply invested.
