Ok so I do not know where this post belongs, but apparently, Java is the language that is used for Arduino boards...I thought that it would be C.

I have no idea where to begin, but I am really interested in tinkering with Arduino boards. Like REALLY. So I need to know what I should buy and where I should start. Which Arduino Board? is there a PSU that I should get or does it come with one? Which SDK? Where to begin?

What I want to achieve? Just a simple remote control that works on a tv, or play around with a light, then later on a robot that will destroy the world.

I also want to play around with NFC.

Again, I have no idea where to begin...

Well first you need to buy an Arduino board (obviously). You can buy a kit that will get you started from Ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Arduino-UNO-R3-Starter-Kit-Proto-Board-jumpers-LEDS-USB-Lead-More-/271113679029?pt=UK_Computing_Other_Computing_Networking&hash=item3f1fa270b5

(not sure if you are in the UK)

The Arduino programming language is a simplified version of c/c++..

You can download the software to create and upload 'sketches' from here: http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software

As for the robot that will destroy the world, crack on... :-)

Great, thanks a lot. Im in South Africa. Have you developed anything for it yet?

...can't find any boards in SA. Might as well try something else...

You have any info on turning a remote control into a universal remote control? I have an extra remote control laying around, what would I need to develop on it?
