Try turing PHP errors on, and then repost any errors you get.

Also, you have an if/else statement... on the index.php page, no GET variables are passed, and nowhere in your index.php is the variable $category_depth set. Hence none of the conditions would be satisfied. And even if they were, you're not printing or echoing anything to the browser, hence you would get a blank page.

And a very simple thing to try would be....

echo 'test';

as first thing in your php file after the <?php

I'll give you pointers, and help with specific questions. But sorry, this is a forum, not a coding house!

Go to PHP.net and lookup "echo" for outputting content to the browser. And perhaps read the basics tutorial about setting variable values.

That should be enough to get you started.
