You might look at hookbox or light streamer. I've not worked with either but they both look like viable solutions depending on your needs. Hookbox looks nice because it doesn't require a local install, you can create a login on the hookbox hosted servers and use that. Here is a tutorial on hookbox: http://cometdaily.com/2010/07/26/a-fast-introduction-to-hookbox/. If you haven't already heard about it Comet is the framework buzz-word for the server push stuff (like ajax is for the asynchronous requests). Also the site I gave you on the introduction to hookbox also has tutorials for lightstreamer too.
